Me and DH are on different sides. I think that Zachariah sounds better and he is in love with the name Nathaniel. We are set on a girls name in case its a little lady.

Re: Which Name Sounds Better

  • Honestly, I like them both equally but maybe Zachariah because it's less common...:) both cool names though IMO.

  • Is your DH comfortable with all the nicknames for Nathaniel?

Nathaniel is really high on my list but I hate Nate and Nat.  If I could guarantee he would always go by Nathan or Nathaniel I would 100% choose the name, but because I can't I am definitely on the fence.

I chose Nathaniel just because I want it to be on our list, but I think they are both nice names.

I chose Zachariah because I like it marginally more than Nathaniel, but honestly, I love both names!  DH vetoed both of them though :(

  • Could you combine them? Nathaniel Zachary sounds nice. I know it is not quite the same though.

If you don't call him Nate or Nat odds are very high that no one else will either.  Unless the day comes where he prefers one of those.  My daughter is Allison and she has not gone by Allie once in her (short) life and won't because DH and I only refer to her as Allison.  The few times someone has called her Allie, we correct them.

  • That is so funny! My ds is Nathaniel and this LO with be Zachary. I'm biased and say I love both! I did Nathaniel Ethan and we are thinking of Zachary Oliver for this one. Steal if you want. :)
  • I'm on the hubby's side I LOVE Nathaniel!! That's actually a name on my list for my baby boy. I love the nickname Nate!!
