***Making a Home Monday!***

So I had a freak injury Friday. Apparently I had a bulging disk in my neck that I didn't know about and I was with my DD on a field trip and turned to look at something really quickly and it bulged more hitting my nerves and causing me a ton of pain. I'm waiting on an appointment a neurosurgeon. So all this leads up to the QOTW....

Has your DH had to take care of you and your child/ren at any point? How did they handle it?

My DH is doing pretty good but he acts like he should get a gold medal! I asked him if it was hard work, no response! Maybe he'll appreciate what I do everyday....doubt it but maybe! We'll see.....

It's so the opposite in our house. DH is the one who takes care of everyone- his job allows him to stay home a lot so he's kind of like a SAHD along with doing his job. He's actually sick right now and I've had to pick up slack. I had to set an alarm to remember to take out the trash. I don't think I've done that since DS was born!

  • I've put my back out once since DD was born and a few weeks ago I was incapacitated for two and half days by the stomach bug from hell. DH was Superman both times. He took care of DD mostly of course but he managed to take care of me too and didn't complain a bit. Love that man.

  • During my pregnancy, I had a ton of swelling and terrible pain from carpal tunnel.  During my 3 month maternity leave I had a C-section followed by two surgeries for carpal tunnel so I could return to work as scheduled.  DH had to do a lot for DD during that time, and my mom stayed with us when I had each of the carpal tunnel surgeries to help too.  But overall, I cannot complain.  We both work and we split the household duties pretty evenly.

  • I can't believe how bizarre that accident was for you.  Have you heard back yet?  Are you going to need surgery?  I had a friend who sneezed while she was leaning/reaching for something and she threw her back out.  It's so crazy what kind of damage can be done sometimes.

As far as the QOTW, DH helped a lot right after DS was born because I had a c/s and wasn't terrible mobile for the first couple weeks.  I could move some, but I couldn't do everything I wanted to.  DH was great, he helps a lot any ways.

  • Ouch...I hope you are good as new soon.

I am SO lucky. DH is amazing. I have gone to Vegas and left him home with the kids (for the birth of my sisters first child, about to go again for the second.) He takes 100% better care of me when I am sick than I do for him LOL. He is also totally hands on during our normal days too...and helps around the house, does most of the cooking and shopping and all of the outside chores. I couldn't ask for better, I really couldn't.

  • My husband is a doctor so I am never sick enough to warrant special attention.  I would have to be bleeding out of my eye balls for him to take me seriously.  About a month ago I was so sick with tonsillitis that I had to go to the emergency room to make sure a throat abscess wasn't restricting my breathing.  I didn't realize how sick I was until he cancelled all of his patients for the day!  LOL

  • I have had to have two major surgeries to fuse together my neck and mainly my family took care of me so he didn't have to take time off from work. When I had to have c-section bc I wouldn't dilate after four days in labor, I was up all night taking care of baby and changing diapers (walking around picking her up... Carrying her around...) while he slept on couch (I could have woken him up- just didn't think I needed help!). He doesn't really know how to take care of someone- and to his major defense- I've never been good at being taken care of. If it doesn't hurt- I keep going. If it does hurt- it has to take me out completely and I have an extremely high pain threshold. When I had viral meningitis and was literally almost dead (I know it sounds like I am being dramatic- but doctors said if I had waited another day they don't think I would have made it), I was all like, just get me a Mountain Dew and I'll go to the hospital if I don't feel better (even though I really felt like I was dying). I had preeclampsia w dd and was confined to hospital for almost a month- that drove me batty, but DH took care of me best by not letting me come home. Nurses were mean- didn't let me do crap!!!! Hubs tries, he was baby and only son so he had everyone kissing his butt whole life. He has heart of gold about taking care of me, but just no clue on execution lol. Never left him alone for night w dd, only because they are my two best friends- why and where would I go anywhere without them?!?!?! Lol :)

  • When I was pregnant with Noah. I had really bad HG and was on bedrest for 3 months.  Just going from the couch to the bed would start me vomiting.  DS1 was just under 2, and all the daycares were full.  DH did EVERYTHING.  He got up, got him dressed and fed, went to work, came home for lunch, went back to work, came home for dinner (thankfully we had a meal train.)  He also had to drive me to every appointment, and start my IV and change the site for my zofran pump each night.  I really don't know how he did it.  He was amazing.

They did a cat scan at the hospital. Is a CT the same as a cat scan? I've always wondered that....
