So my water broke. I called the doctor...they just said to be in by 6 am... to try to get some sleep which is all well and good...except my water won't stop gushing so I'm super uncomfortable. already went through 2 pairs of pants...now I'm wearing a towel diaper style. trying to figure out how to get to the hospital without making a mess....

I thought you were supposed to go in when that happens since most doctors won't let you go past 24 hours once it breaks?

Since I'm not having contractions yet, they told me not to rush. To try to get some sleep and be in by 6am.

Mine broke and continued to gush all the way through labor. I started having consistent contractions almost immediately though. Good luck!!!!

Might be a dumb question to some of you... But if your water breaks, and you can't have them do a cervical check again after your water breaks, how do you know when you're to 10 cm & it's time to push?

Don't worry...I had a leak on Sunday with a gush and then L&D said it wasn't my water so sent me home. It was determined at my doc appt on Tuesday two days later that it was my
Water although not fully ruptured.

I was sent to deliver. I had a fever Sunday and during delivery but it came down after delivery and never got antibiotics.

I'm pretty sure they will still do a cervical check after your water brakes but they make sure to keeps thing sterile and clean to prevent any infection.

I know, it is so uncomfortable because the leaking just doesn't stop! When I drove myself to the hospital, I put a trash bag over the car seat and two layers of towels. However, I didn't leak that much because I was sitting up and had a short drive.

So strange how different doctors/hospitals have different rules. If my water breaks they said not to even call just go immediately to the hospital.

My dr told me if my water breaks at home, take a shower, eat, gather my things and head to the hospital. Good luck ladies!

They continued to check me after they broke my water.

But I KNEW when it was time to push!

So Update! Wow it's been a long week! I can't believe it! I went into the hospital around 3:30. Of course, as soon as we arrive, my contractions pretty much stop. so they give me Pitocin to start them back up again. This made them so much worse, I gave in and by 9:30 am I got an epidural. I then just labored for hours and hours and hours....after midnight they kept telling me I'd be pushing soon that I was at 9 cm. Well I was stuck at 9 cm. finally around 2:30 am the next morning they told me to start pushing. I pushed for 2 hours. Nothing. No movement. The doctor decided I had 2 options: I could get a c section or I could try the forceps. If they didn't work, I'd have to get the C section. I chose to try the forceps. It was not going well either. I was pushing with the aid of the Forceps for 30 minutes. The doctor said I had one more push and he was prepping me for surgery. I pushed with everything I had and by some miracle, He came out!

All was good. All seemed healthy 2 days later and then 2 hours before we were to be discharged, they did a blood test and found he was Jaundice. So they told us he had to be put under the lamp for 24 hours. and then they would have to wait 6 hours after they turned the lamp off to see how his results were... That would have put us at 6pm tonight. However, this morning they realized that because he was under the light and they had not completely controlled the temp in the room, he had a low body temperature and he lost 10% weight since birth, so they decided to keep him another night just to check out everything. So I'm on night 5.5 in the hospital. I'm going a little stir crazy. I'm annoyed to be here, but I'm also glad its not serious stuff. We could be stuck here for many worse conditions than Jaundice.

Needless to say, I'm glad to be back on the boards. I need to catch up on the last 5 days! Also I just wanted to say thanks for all your help these past few months. I know I was more of a lurker. I didn't say much, but reading your posts, finding out stuff I had in common really helped me get through a lot.
