Chiropractor

For those who use them during prgnancy, when do you start seeing one? I've known people who go about 32+ weeks but didn't know if going any earlier could help.

p.s.
sorry if this discussion has already been started..my phone won't let me search the board =/

I went to the Chiro regularly- moved and hadn't gone for a while. Started going again at 11 weeks. But my back is Jacked up lol. But yes it can help even before you are farther along. :) find someone who works with pregnant woman. The Webster technique is awesome and gets rid of my lower back pain and round ligament pain.

  • I've been going since before I got my BFP (once every four weeks), but I go to a practice that specializes in pregnancy so they were super excited and supportive when I gave them the news. My chiropractor recommends coming in once every two weeks until the third trimester, then once a week after that. It seems like a lot but it's totally worth it (at least I think so). In addition to helping my headaches and back pain, they've given me great tips for easing RL pain and stretches that might help prevent being breech.

  • I have gone through all 3 of my pregnancies and it make me feel so much better. And I take my babies after they are born to make sure they are ok as well

My Chiro suggests going at least once a month. There is a vertebrae that needs to be kept in alignment for a healthy pregnancy. He told me that it can help prevent miscarriage in early stages.

I go weekly, and have for a while.  My back is all kinds of messed up though.  My chiro had all kinds of technical terms for it, but basically I have spinal degeneration in my neck, something going on with the curve in the middle of my back, and a pinched sciatic nerve in my lower back.  When not pregnant I go every couple of weeks, but I have definitely needed more attention now that I'm showing and my balance is thrown off.

I simply start when my body says it's time. I don't go right now but once I start having aches and pains, I'll start going. We are limited to 20 visits a year though so I have to make sure that I don't waste visits. My chiro usually has me go in twice a week initially and then moves it to a weekly basis so I have to take that into consideration as I plan on when to go.

Most of my family is big into chiropractors, but this is the kind of thing that scares me off and makes me think a lot of them are just quacks.

There is no way my miscarriage could have been prevented by going to a chiropractor.  When 70-80% of all miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities (I think that's the stat if I'm recalling correctly), that's a pretty shitty thing for him to be telling women.

  • I go weekly and have been for about a month or so now.  I was having horrible lower back pain when I would lay down and it was preventing me from playing with my daughter.  My chiropractor says 1x a week and once I hit about 32-34 weeks it may be 2x a week but only if necessary.

I was hesitant but I asked on this board and so many women had great things to say I just made an appointment.  So glad I did!
