So I told dh I'd wean Lucas when he turned two well next Friday he turns two! I am beyond glad we bf this long and part of me isn't ready to be done BUT a bigger part of me is. I've been pregnant or nursing for 4 years 3 months straight I'm ready for my body to be my body.
But Lucas is not ready to be done

some days he goes all day w/o no problem then other times he wants to nurse a lot. And he always wants to nurse at 4 or 5am. I'm scared of how this is going to go. With Nathan I weaned him with a bottle and he was one, Lucas never took a bottle and is much more set in his ways.
Any advice??
Re: Weaning
@najzomax I find it humorous (and slightly sad) how breastfeeding/extended breastfeeding makes people uncomfortable.
I wish I had some advice for you but I'm in the same boat. I guess the only advice I can give is to take your time (if that works for you). DD was nursing 3-4 times a day and then at night, so I started by cutting back to twice a day and overnight. She had a hard time at first but is doing surprisingly well now. My trick was to re-direct when she wanted to nurse. Now I'm trying to figure out how to cut out the other sessions since they are both associated with sleep, nap time and bed time.
I also wanted to be done nursing by the time she was turned two. And even though we probably won't be completely done, I'm satisified with the fact that we are trying.
I'd love to hear tips from people who are starting to wean this month!
Good luck!
