Hello! I'm 39 and officially pregnant! I've always felt like a strange "case," but maybe my situation isn't all that abnormal. Ten years ago I experienced a suspected ectopic pregnancy - this was my first pregnancy and was such a horrible experience! Hcg levels wouldn't rise, etc, and I was administered methotrexate. I was married at that time and became divorced less than a year later. Last February I experienced a second suspected ectopic pregnancy with current DH. Again, methotrexate was administered. How tough on the body that med can be! With two ectopics, I was sent to have my fallopian tubes tested for blockages, yet no blockage was found. My OB directed me to an infertility specialist, where regular appointments, tracking, "date nights," and injections became the norm... yet all felt so strange and unnatural. We were excited to discover we were pregnant last October, however a natural miscarriage in November followed. Could this really all be happening? Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. We decided to discontinue receiving direction from the fertility specialists, as we didn't feel that "drugs" were the answer. I didn't have any issue becoming pregnant, just maintaining it! After the miscarriage in November, I was dreading my monthly cycle in December. It came, stayed a while, was painful, but ended. I had the same anxiety and anticipation in January....except....it never came.... Guess what? Yep - pregnant again, and now 18 weeks along... what a strange and mysterious journey its been, and I imagine, it will only continue to be...
