My doctor has been telling me for weeks to check into the ER/L&D as soon as I notice decreased fetal movement (10 movements in 1 hour is her rule). My baby boy is normally very active but today has been slow and stubborn. It was difficult to get to 10 movements with extreme stimulation in a matter of 52 minutes, but we did it. But leading up to bedtime, when he is normally break-dancing, he was completely still. Nothing I did was making him move. So I quickly made my way to the ER and as soon as they strapped me up, he started moving! And I got to hear that sweet sign of life thumping away inside of me - was immediately brought to tears. All these nurses were looking at me like "Aww, how precious. This is her first." Well, yes it is. And I am wearing my FTM badge with pride because I want to be a mom. And if that means hauling my ass to the ER every time I think something is wrong, I will do so without hesitation. Life is too fragile.
Re: She's Just a FTM
Some nurses just don't understand or they forget how EVERY pregnancy can be scary at times. It's their job, they need to get over it. Also remember that you are this baby's mom and it is your job to protect this LO. Don't hesitate to do something that could save your baby's life.... like going in for decreased movements.
Yes. NOW he was moving...
It's always better to get checked! I'm glad you went in.
