Have my first of the weekly appointments this afternoon! Can't believe it's that time already!

Getting the "birth and labor" talk, blood work, the lovely Strep B swab and bringing DH along for the ride.

  • Update on how my appointment went: baby passed the NST in 20 minutes, doctor was impressed and pleased with my progress thus far. However they want me to do another NST next week. Now I'm a FTM so idk all the routine stuff, but I was never told I was considered high risk or that there was any issues tha I should be aware of...is it normal for doctors to do the NST weekly for someone who hasn't had any problems previously or during pregnancy? It just seems a little excessive to me. And I do plan on asking about it next week but I just wanted to know of anyone had experience with this.

  • My doctor was acting a little flaky today. She measured me, then I asked if I could schedule my c.s yet (hospital recently changed the rules on how far in advance you can do that.) She said, "Are we 60 days out yet?" I was like, 'Uh, try 5 weeks.'

WHat was she measuring for if she doesn't know how pregnant I am?

Then, I complimented her on the kindness of the scheduling lady and she was like, "Huh. Well, that's good. She's pretty bi-polar so I hear she's great or people complain."   Um, OK.

Plus by this time in my prior pregnancy I was already on weekly NSTs, sonos, etc. It hit her we are out of time so she scheduled like four things for tomorrow so I had to scramble for childcare. Blah. Nothing like pissing away HOURS at the doctor's office.

  • NST turned into being sent to triage in L&D.  Again.  : (  Multiple contractions and they said Baby A had a decel and was being "nonreactive" to the stupid little buzzer.  Thankfully I was only in triage for about an hour or so and then they let me come home.  This was only the second NST and I've ended up in L&D both times, I really hope this doesn't become a regular thing.  I go to the OB again on Wednesday and another NST on Friday.  Good luck to everyone else for uneventful appointments!!  @MrsCase1, that really blows, I hope your OB gets her shit together!

@kbellizio3, I do have weekly NSTs, but I have mo-di twins, so I am considered high risk.  Sorry, I'm no help.  But I hope you get some answers next week.

@chickpea912, that really sucks.  Keeping my fingers crossed for good news for you!!

@kbellizio3 I'm not sure - I had NSTs last time b/c I was high risk, although I haven't started on them this time yet.  Not sure why - fairly certain I'd started them by now.

@SandraPB1220 I hope the rest of your NSTs are uneventful!

ETA: It's been my experience that NSTs usually fall under the medically necessary umbrella.  I don't think I know of anyone experiencing a "normal" pregnancy getting NSTs.

@chickpea912‌ that's what I thought too...I figured maybe they wanted to do one to monitor movement because they didn't ask me to do kick counting, but I've never been given any indication of anything being wrong or abnormal. Unless they're worried that I'm measuring small? (I haven't put on a lot of weight, and i do have a growth u/s this week) but nothing has been said to me other than "you're a bit overweight" at my first appointment. But I wasn't aware that was a reason to be monitored. I could be wrong. But I'm definitely asking because if they're concerned about something and haven't told me I'm not going to be happy. And I've had a great experience with this practice so far.

  • @kbellizio3 It could be a practice thing - this might be their normal.  I have no idea, just answered based on my own experience - definitely ask about it.

  • 33week check up this week went well measuring 32weeks and LO weighs 3lbs 14oz which was a relief after at 30weeks being told since I have failed to gain an unacceptable amount of weight they were concerned about LO nutrition. Over all good appointment but not looking forward to my GBS swab next appointment!
  • Had my 33 week check. All was good. Next week US to see if she is still breech. If so will be scheduling a c section to have it on the books. Always can cancel if she flips.

  • 34 week appt today. Dr not happy with morning sugar level of 36. I was woken up at 3am by sudden burning and cramping. Thought it was stretching or something. It continued all day up until my appt at 330 pm. Dr was worried it was contractions because my stomach was so hard when he examined. Did NST, US, and checked fluid levels. He liked all of those so hopefully this burning and stuff around the baby is just my body doing another stupid thing that doesn't make any sense! But on the plus side..the Glyburide is helping the GD. hope everyone has a great week!

35 weeks, and at my appointment today, was told I was 2 cm dialated and that my cervix was soft. Baby's head is in position. Midwife doesn't think I'll make it until June, let alone my June 8th due date.

...which would be fine if we weren't moving from an apartment into a house on May 29th-30th. Cue the anxiety! :-p
  • Had a NST and my weekly ultrasound today. NST went good. Baby girl got off to a very slow start but she passed. She is so stubborn! The nurse gave me jelly beans and ice water and that seemed to get her moving.

Blood pressure was great again! Ultrasound showed that the fluid is good. Baby girl is head down and weighs 5lb 6oz. :)

I go again on Thursday and the Dr wants to do a cervical check. Almost to the finish line.

Ultrasound today at 35weeks 3 days. Baby is still measuring big...7lbs and 7oz! Yes I definitely know it is all estimate and could be totally off! However the reason he is being tracked is because of size, particularly head size which has been consistently measured at 95th percentile at least the last few scans. DD also had a huge head at birth (currently she's off the charts for head size!) and had a pretty rough birth. I had 4 degree tearing, she was very bruised, had a double cone head and was almost taken out after 2 1/2 straight hours of pushing and her going into distress. MFM dr said my usual ob will talk to me/check me next time if they think my pelvis is realistically even big enough to get this big guy through. They also told me that after a 4th degree tear you're more likely to have another and are much more likely develop inconstincy issues, both for pee and poo! This totally scares me!

So question... Any STM+ had a 4th degree tear and had a good vaginal birth experience on the next baby?? Just looking to hear about others experiences, I'll talk with my ob at my next appt next week.

    Edit: Your/You're...oh grammar...and spelling....which I'm sure there are still mistakes :p
