Why hello due date

So today is my official due date. I have an appointment later today so hopefully I'll see if my body is anymore ready than it was at 39 weeks. After a little teasing Saturday night it looks like this little one isn't going to make her appearance anytime soon despite walking ALL DAY LONG. So question out there for all other moms that are/have been in my situation. What did they do at your 40 week appointment, did they do a NST suggest a membrane sweep or anything like that. I know every practice is different just trying to mentally prepare. Also how did you stay sane. The rational logical side of my brain knows that the due date is just a number and that most FTMs go over and baby will come when she wants. But the irrational side of my brain which seems to be running things most of the time is screaming SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!!! How did you stay sane. I've got all my stuff prepared and I can't think of anything else to do. I'm sitting here at work with all my projects handed off just lurking on the boards for the time being.

I need the answer to this one myself.... As for what happened at my 40 week appointment. My midwife did the usual stuff (growth check, heartbeat check), checked my cervix, offered to do a membrane sweep (I declined) and then she explained the induction process to me and then we scheduled the time/day for the induction. I am still hoping that LO will come on his own but it's nice to have an eviction date. I guess that sort of helps with the sanity.

  • I didn't get there last time but I was scheduled for an u/s and NST for the day after my due date (for insurance purposes I guess, it had to be after - not on - my due date). We also would have talked induction for 41 weeks.

  • Sorry to hear your struggling, today was my due date as well but instead I have a 14 day old.Hang in there honestly two + weeks in I am missing being pregnant a bit, go pamper yourself a bit while you wait. Trust me it will be the last alone time you get for quite.sometime.
  • Thanks for the support ladies. It helps just to hear that other people are feeling/experiancing the same. I did some pampering this weekend, it's hard to do it during the week since I don't get paid leave until I get hospitalized so I'm at work 8-5 everyday I'm still pregnant. The goal is ultimately a healthy baby healthy mom outcome. @jennyinheaven I didn't even think about missing being pregnant. I'm guessing those first few weeks are pretty overwhelming. Thanks for that input I'll try to enjoy the fact that my little one is inside where feeding her is as easy as feeding myself.

  • I was due on the first.. Still pregnant. I had my 40 week appt that day as well. My midwife just did a cervix check and then we talked about either doing a nst or induction this week. I had a nst the week prior with a trip to l&d so we scheduled the induction this week even though she was fine waiting til the baby came naturally if we wanted to and doing an induction at 42 if necessary.
I think this little girl is stubborn and not coming out on her own honestly.

Try to keep busy. I've been driving myself crazy 'relaxing'
  • So I went in for my 40 week appointment yesterday. I was still 80% efface but had made it to 1 cm dilated. She offered to do a membrane sweep. I decided to try that. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I only found it to be uncomfortable, I did wince once so if you don't have a high pain tolerance I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I also was told to schedule a NST and ultrasound for my 41 week appointment. If I'm still pregnant by then they will check on the baby then discuss options and schedule an induction for 42 weeks at the latest. I can do another sweep then and attempt to go natural but they highly recommend inducing at 42 week because of degradation of the placenta they believe the risks outweigh the benefits to the baby. Here's to hoping she comes on her own sometime this week!
