air or plastic stroller tires?

Hi All! We are on the hunt for a stroller and really at a toss up between a stroller with tires or plastic wheels. I was originally leaning toward the britax b-agile travel system until we went to BRU and the sales lady told us that a jogger with air tires would be best. We were looking at the chicco activ3, however it's sold out everywhere. I'm not a jogger, however, we do travel to NYC and Philly often, so we def. want a good stroller. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have both. The one with plastic is great for the mall, but even just normal bumps in a sidewalk make it kind of wonky. I recommend air if you plan on doing a lot of walking with it

With air you will have to refill them and if the pressure is off it will pull in different directions and make it hard to push.  However when they are filled correctly it is a very smooth ride

I'm having the same dilemma! I posted not too long ago about it too. If I weren't lazy id post the link to it so you could see the opinions I got there :) I have two dogs and do a lot of walking. I ended up registering for a stroller with plastic wheels because for the price I loved all the features. I figured I'd give it a shot, but I'm still wondering if I made the right choice. I love the stroller though, so I hope it's fine. I decided someone just needs to invent some kind of wheel kit where you can switch them out for air/foam. Wishful thinking!

My Uppa baby Cruz has plastic and it is great. I know the vista has air but the cost was substantially more so we opted Cruz.

We do lots of neighborhood walking and I don't find it to be an issue.

  • I have the Britax BReady, which has foam filled rubber tires.  The tires are one of the reasons that I got it actually - Since they're foam filled, they shouldn't go flat and they provide a very smooth ride.  I'm not sure if the BAgile has the same ones, but if it does, I wouldn't hesitate to get it.

I just bought the Baby Jogger City Versa. Baby Jogger strollers are on sale right now on Amazon for extremely low prices.

I got the City Versa because I can use it as a travel system with the b-safe car seat (with a tiny adapter that snaps in. Not the bar type adapter), the seat can face outward or face me, I can close the stroller with the seat either forward facing or outward facing, foam filled rubber tires (Baby Jogger GT tires) can be purchased through Baby Jogger website if I decide I want the all terrain wheels (which I think I do!), all wheel suspension, and I liked the way it drove when I tested it out. Basically, it meant all my wants.

I have spent hours upon hours (and hours and hours) researching strollers. This is the only one that met all of my criteria above.
