2-wk appt - how is this even possible?

At DD's 4-day appt she weighed in at 7 lbs 4 oz and was 21.5" long. Today was her two-week appt, so 10 days later, and she weighed 8 lbs 14 oz and was 22 1/4". I did feed her before we left the house this morning but I had fed her before her last appt too. Obviously at 4 days I was producing much less milk. But seriously that difference is crazy. I thought for sure her Ped would want to recheck her weight or something but he was just like "you are doing great."

Did anyone else have a huge change in weight like that at 2 weeks? I mean, I don't even want to count that as her real weight because I am thinking a lot of hat has to be milk.

I would think it's pretty accurate, +\- maybe 2-3 ounces. Newborns grow fast. My LO was 7lb 12oz @ birth. He left the hospital at 7lb 5oz. He regained his birth weight in 4 days and was 8lbs 2oz by 6 days. Babies grow fast, enjoy this bc soon your LO won't be little.

Ok, that was just a lot higher than I was expecting. I remember my DS grew fast but it's been 8 yrs so I can't remember exactly how fast.

At DDs first appt she was 7lb10oz, exactly a week later on the same scale with an empty tummy (she was hungry right after) she was 8lb8oz.

I'm not sure of her weight but LO was drowning in 0-3 month clothes 3 wks ago and they fit now! They grow fast!

Birth- 6lbs 11oz, 3days- 6lbs 7.5 oz, 5 days- 6lbs 13oz, 13 days 7 lbs 12oz. They grow fast! Esp if you've nursed before and you aren't having supply issues. 1 oz a day is normal, but many babies gain more than that!

Emma was 6.11 at birth, but dropped to 6.1 when we left the hospital. At her two week check, she was up to 7.5

Penny was 6.13, left hospital at 6.8 and at 12 days old was 7.10!! I can tell she's bigger already now at 18 days too. She's growing like a weed!

This thread makes me feel a bit better because my LO was born 7lb 10oz, was 7lb 6oz at her 4 day appointment and by the time of her ten day check up she was 8lb 2oz. The evil midwife had the cheek to say that she was putting on weight too fast and it was down to the fact that I am combi feeding with some formula as opposed to EBF. She even gave me a leaflet about childhood obesity! Livid!

LO gained about 3 lbs from her discharge to her appointment three weeks later! EBF and she was a preemie!

@BeckyF82‌ - childhood obesity? Seriously? Good lord. Even though I was shocked at how much she'd gained, I'm certainly not thinking it's time for Jenny Craig or anything. I know there are a lot if well intentioned LCs out there, there seem to be a lot that are so hung upon their guidelines that they forget completely about common sense.

Its amazing how quickly they gain at this stage. DD was discharged 3 weeks ago at 7lbs 1oz and yesterday weighed in at 9lbs! She is also EBF. As an additional bonus I am now only 6 pounds away from my pre pregnancy weight (which was still wayy overweight)... Yesterday when she was nursing I chanted - suck that fat, suck that fat...lol

Oo I thought it was only me! When my Lo was 2 weeks he went from around 7lbs 3oz to around 8lbs 2oz if I recall. And my dr. told me I was doing an amazing job to keep up the good work.

I would have throat punched that woman SO HARD! Obesity?!?! Grrrrrrrrr....
