I had DD at 29w6d after developing pre-e/HELLP rather suddenly. I had been swelling and had some high pressures, but my dr kind of dropped the ball. They chalked up my stomach ache to indigestion and advised Zantac, when it was really the referred pain from the liver due to the HELLP. At any rate, we didn't get the steroid shots bc we had to deliver within about an hour of getting to the hospital and LO did have respiratory issues. She was on o2 and even came home on it after 66 days in the NICU. She was on it for 3 months after we came home. That being said, she was healthy all winter, even without strict lockdown, and we managed to avoid RSV and any other issues. She did get Synagis though.
As far as advice, a tour is a good idea. I also would have been happier to know what to expect as far as her care and NICU environment rather than saying "we have to deliver" and not really saying much more, although I was freaking out too much to ask any questions.
Good luck and hopefully that babe stays put and you stay healthy
