April 2014 Moms

41 weeks today. This is depressing.

Any other post date ladies out there? I'm having a rough time. This is my first and I'm having a hard time dealing with all of the pressure from friends and family. I am also hoping for a home birth and the longer this takes the less likely it will still be an option. Any advice?

Can you have your dr/midwife strip your membranes? I had mine stripped on exactly 41 weeks around 11 am, went to lunch, then water broke at 2 pm and immediately went into active labor. Hang in there!

  • I had this baby right at 41 weeks and my last one at 41+2. The first time especially it was so hard!!! The only advice I can offer is each day you're more likely to meet your baby, and that once they're here you'll forget all about the waiting!! I know it's hard hang in there.

  • They stats say the average FTM delivers at 41+1 Not that it helps any to know that! I am also a FTM and will be 41 on tuesday. I am also still hanging on but definitely sick of all the phone calls and texts! Seriously, like i am going to have the baby and then just happen to NOT tell anyone!

I totally understand how you feel, I'm looking at 42 weeks tomorrow! I've had a really rough time too with failed inductions and a screaming MIL ("How much longer will they let this go on? I've waited so long for this baby!" Seriously, I'm starting to hate her). I had a coworker with the same due date as me who's already had her baby. I have to go back to the hospital tonight for induction #3. It really sucks, and my best advice is what someone else on here told me... It's okay to feel all the feelings! It's okay to be pissed, and sad, and hate your family, and be mad at yourself (because it's not your fault at all, and you know that!). Hang in there, we'll make it!

  • I had to be induced with this LO at 40w6d. My first LO was early and everyone was expecting this one to be too. So that extra waiting time felt like an eternity. Not to mention I was completely uncomfortable. I did not get to enjoy that phase of PG the first time around. Fortunately I did not have to go to work anymore at that point and pretty much hibernated to avoid all of the "haven't you had that baby yet?" Comments.

So I am through it already but I know how you feel. I'm sorry your LO has not arrived yet and I hope they decide to come meet the world soon!

Yuppers. On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. This kid is too comfy.
  • Big big hugs!! I hope your babies come quick and easy.

  • I was induced at 41 w 2 d. One of the most important things I learned about pregnancy because of this? Lie to family and friends about your due date!!! People drove me absolutely nuts the last two weeks asking "baby yet?" "Any news?" Etc. next time, I'll tell people I'm due two weeks after my real due date.

This exactly!! I will be 41w on Tuesday as well, and get 3-5 texts a day. The least irritating ones just say "thinking of you!" and the most irritating are more like, "any news?!?!?!?!?!" Yep, I had the baby and was going to keep a secret, but well, since you texted me....

Induction is set for Friday which makes me nervous because I've had no signs of labor at all. I'm worried it's not going to work, which is not a great mindset to go into induction with :-/

I'm not going to lie, I had to be induced due to mild pre-e and I was high, thick and closed. It was rough and lasted two days...BUT I did not end up with a csection. Just know that having zero progress when heading to be induced does not automatically mean csection.

I hope your body starts getting prepared for your baby!
