Caroline's Birth Story (yayglitter)

Caroline Ann was born via scheduled C/S on Wednesday, April 30th at 8:32 AM. She weighed 7lbs 2oz.

DH and I checked in bright and early at 6 AM and the nurses immediately started prepping me for surgery. By 7:50, I was walking to the OR. The anesthesiologist put my spinal in as the scrub nurse held on to me. I only felt a sting and then I couldn't feel my legs. Not 5 minutes later, my OB and DH were in the room and the curtain was being drawn.

DH has a strong stomach so he watched the entire surgery. I remember getting impatient (nerves were getting to me) so I asked DH if they had started. Apparently they'd started 10 minutes prior and it was almost baby time! I felt some pressure maybe a minute later and then heard the most beautiful sound ever: my daughter was crying. The moment she came out she was crying like crazy. They took her to the side, cleaned her up, and then let me see her. After that, DH went with her to the nursery with her so they could weigh her while my surgery was finished up. I felt really lonely after Caroline and DH were gone, so the OR team tried their best to keep my spirits up. The scrub nurses busted out singing Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline"- it was pretty funny and helped make the surgery go by quicker for me.

I met up with DH and Caroline in recovery and then switched to a PP room. DH and I spent Wednesday through Thursday bonding with our daughter and just couldn't bring ourselves to send her to the nursery. We were complete baby hogs, haha! By Friday, Caroline and I were doing so well they drew up our discharge papers. For DH and I's going home present, the hospital gave us a steak and lobster lunch and it was awesome! Right after our celebration lunch, DH brought up the car seat and we were on our way home.

We are so in love with our little girl.
