One & Done: Only child

Am i being snotty?

My cousin is throwing her DS a birthday party next saturday. She just text me and said

"I could probably grab some hamburgers and grill them after the game, if we want to coordinate for yall to bring sides."

Is it just me or if you throw a party for your child and you decide to do lunch then don't YOU do all of lunch and not a pot luck? I haven't responded yet.

I have to agree with you.  If someone offers you can accept but I wouldn't ask up front.

  • Ok so i responded with.

"I wouldn't worry about lunch for everyone. It sounds like a PITA."
  • Weird. If you're throwing a party you should provide food.

  • Not snotty.

If I am going to a party I assume all drinks/ food/ snacks will be provided.

Did she send this to just you?  I wouldn't mind if it was a family only party and everyone brought a side, but if she's saying you get to be the one to do all that?  NO!

  • Definitely can't throw a pot luck birthday party, that's ridiculous.
  • My family often does pot luck for kids bday parties, but that's because everyone offers. I don't think you're being snotty. She should cover it and take help if it's offered.
Can't figure out the signature thing, so here's the short, short version.....first daughter born on November 10, 2013. She was conceived through the magic of IVF after 2+ years of TTC.
  • Not snotty. She throws the party, she provides the food.

    This exactly.
