Parenting after 35

Intro

Hi ladies. I'm an old member of TTC>35. Finally getting back on the boards.

After struggling with IF for three years, we finally conceived boy / girl twins who were born in October. I had a pretty average first two trimesters, but at 23 weeks, was put on bedrest at home, then admitted to the hospital for nine weeks until 33 weeks. I was released to home bedrest and delivered the kids via scheduled c section at 36 weeks. Kids were healthy and happy with no NICU time. They were / are a bit on the petite side but given that they were twins, early, and our genetics, makes perfect sense.

I also have a ten year old stepdaughter who lives with us full time. We are very fortunate to have lots of family nearby as well.

I look forward to participating more now that the kiddos are a little less demanding. :)

Welcome!  I remember seeing posts from you on the PG over 35 board.  I had my son in November.  Always nice to have another pg+35 grad make their way over here :)

Hi 10-4!! Yaaaay! So good to see you on here, I love getting familiar posters back!

How are things going so far? Are you or did you breastfeed? Do you pump? Twins are hard! High five mama! :)

  • Hi !  that's it just wanted to welcome you
  • Things are going well.  Both kids are wonderful.  They were never able to latch correctly, so I have pumped since their birth.  I had to supplement with half formula starting at 3 months and am slowly starting to ramp down on pumping now.  I am just too busy and with them being active and starting to crawl, I need to chase them instead of being tethered to a pump.  Plus, I hate pumping.  :)

I hear ya. Mine had a very severe latch so I've had to EP as well. It hasn't gone well for me. I have so much discomfort and I've had mastitis twice. I also hate being chained to the pump. I only have three more weeks to go, my goal was 6 months. I really don't know how I've made it this far.

  • Hi there! I currently participate in TTC>35.  Congratulations on the birth of your twins! Your stepdaughter must be a huge help. I think that she is at a good age to welcome her siblings.

I'm also pretty new in this board.
