Alexander is 1 week old today and has been doing an amazing job in the NICU.This is a site we started to update family/friends. Daddy made his first journal entry today to update with yesterday's good-ish news.
Also, Fellow Teachers:
Since Alexander decided to come early, and in the city where my husband was working, I've had to resign from my teaching position. I'm going back to my school on Tuesday to turn in keys and say goodbye to my students (2nd grade). I'd like to get them a little something. I feel so bad for leaving so close to the end of the year. Any ideas on what I could get them? I'm at a loss at the moment.

As far as a gift for your students. I teach 5th and had to go on leave three weeks ago. My students have written me letters, made crafts, and sent drawings to me. I decided to add them in on celebrating our LO instead of a goodbye gift. I found an ABC book on Pinterest which is suggested as a shower activity. Your guests (students in my case) pick a letter page and draw and color a picture of something that begins with that letter. At the bottom of the page there is a "Created by" signature line. Once the pages are all complete you can have them spiral bound for baby's first ABC book. My students will complete the book creation after their standardized testing is over in two weeks. They love to be involved!

I have given highlighters before and attached a little note that said "you're the highlight of my year!" Kids will love using these in school too!!
So glad to hear he's doing well!

I don't think you have too much time, but do you have a photo of you and your class? I always print a photo card for my class (third grade) and it says "Thanks for a great year!" They love them every year. I always send mine 1 hour to Walgreens.
Keep us posted on you and your little one!
