I just got one and have lots of questions. How many ounces so you get a day with them? Do you wash it after each use? Do you just keep a bag in the fridge and keep dumping the milk in there throughout the day.
I just got mine last week. I imagine it varies from person to person, but I get 1-2 oz a feeding, depending on how long between feedings. Usually about 10oz a day so far. I rinse it out with hot water between uses and throw it in the dishwasher at the end of the day. I keep the milk in bottles in the fridge and when I have 6oz, I pour it in a freezer bag. I don't use it at night because I don't trust myself to not spill all over the place in my half-asleep state.
I'd never heard of a milk-saver before seeing your post. I just use a hands free pumping bra and attach my pumping collection bottle on the side I'm not feeding on. This way when I switch sides I just move the bottle to the other side and keep collecting. I am some kind of crazy milk making machine so i'm probably not the best gauge but I collect about 1-1.5 oz each feeding. I then just pump or if i'm on a non pump feed I put the whole thing into the fridge and pull it out when i'm ready to feed again.
I am saving about an oz per feeding and i put it in a storage bottle and then combine with other pumped milk once its chilled. I wash with warm water after every use and use soap and bottle brush once daily. I actually went with the Avent kind because I got two for the price of half of the milkies. And I ordered off amazon @columbia1

I got my milk saver on one of the half off website and am using it on my third kid. Well worth the money. I have 60oz in the freezer that I've collected since my milk came in. I love that thing.
Another question- do you only use these when you nurse? I find that I'm leaking all day long and go thru nursing pads like crazy. Is it possible to fit them in my bra and wear them during the day if I'm just lounging at home w the baby?
Isn't this just collecting fore milk? If you are only collecting fore milk and adding it to more fore milk in a baggy isn't that not good because it should be mixed with hind milk? When I was using mine I dumped it out or added it to a milk bag of pumped milk.
@columbia1 mine day not to wear them for more than an hour at a time. @DemoDoll I pump the ought the day too after feedings so all the milk ends up being combined. If you were just using leaked milk to build a stash there could be an issue.

Oh shit really? I only save my leaked milk. I haven't had to pump yet.
I was wondering this too because my LO was chugging foremilk and I would switch her when she got antsy and therefore she was getting hindmilk. She was very uncomfortable and gassy and having tummy pains. Green poop. Went to lactation and they said hindmilk, besides bein fatty and filling, coats the tummy and helps settle it. So you wouldn't want only foremilk in bottles.

I wouldn't recommend doing that. They push on your boobs so I would be afraid of getting a clogged duct.

Also, they don't have a top, so twice after nursing already, I have bent over to put DD down or to grab something and spilt everything out. So you can only really sit there with it on.

The open tops make them a bit impractical to wear all day, but I've stuck one in while sitting around watching TV in the evening while the kids are asleep with no issues. Just make sure you have no reason to bend over!
