Patting myself on the back and a STM question

So, I just finished putting together a big box of 'busy bag' stuff to keep my son occupied while I'm nursing or otherwise tied up with the baby.  Got a bunch of ideas from Pinterest and finally assembled it all this afternoon!  Plus I put in some toys that I'd tucked away that will work well.  GO ME!

My STM question is about a gift for baby to give the older sibling.  If you're doing this, what did/are you having the baby give?  My son just had his birthday yesterday and before that it was Easter, so I am feeling a little tapped out in the gift department at this point.
I already plan to have him pick out a lovee to give his little bro/sis.  Which I need to get on ASAP!

Re: Patting myself on the back and a STM question

  • My son turns 3 on Monday, so I'm right there with you. I'm going to put together a little goodie bag with small dinosaurs and a plane toy- nothing big. He picked out a little stuffed toy for his sister at the dollar tree. It takes so little to keep him happy, so I'm not going to worry too much about it. What's in your 'busy bag'?

  • I got DD (almost 2.5) a Minnie Mouse play set thing. She loves Minnie and it's something that should keep her busy at the hospital beyond the first five minutes.

  • I got her a couple of books and a bracelet from new baby. She wanted the baby to have a "Scout" toy of her own, so she helped me pick out a "Violet" puppy for the baby.

DD2 got her big sister her own kid's tablet. We had already planned on getting her one, but her 4th birthday isn't until the end of August, so we figured this would be a great time, and reason, to give it to her. It's worked out well. It keeps her occupied from time to time, and has a lot of educational apps she can use on it.

  • I found these stuffed animals on Zulilly that say big sis and big bro. Big bro/big sis books are good. Helps reinforce that the newborn can't do much yet and also how special the big siblings are. I am going to bring the bags to the hospital and give them to DD and DS when they visit.
  • When my older sister was in the hospital having my nephew, my younger sister took my niece to build a bear to make a bear for her little brother, which was very cute. My nephew "got her" some princess things. She asks me what baby kailey (mine) got her lol she already loves her!
