Ovidrel + HPT

I feel dumb asking this question, but an hour of googling has not helped.

From what I have read, after a trigger shot a HPT will come up + until the shot has left your system. This is our first round of Clomid+Ovidrel so I am just trying to figure it all out. 

I went in for an u/s on the 29th and I had one follicle that was 16.5mm. I went back on the 30th and that follicle was 20mm. They told me to do the Ovidrel shot on the 1st. Timed intercourse on the 1st pm and the 3rd am. 

Out of morbid curiosity I took a HPT I had in the drawer this evening and it came up negative... Is that normal? From what I have read, shouldn't the test be + until the Ovidrel is out of my system? Should this concern me?

    Thanks ladies! I think I just needed to be talked off the ledge! haha. 

    There is just so much to learn and know with all of this. I think I need to stay away from Dr. Google!

    I was afraid the last cycle because it took over 24 hours for the trigger to show up in my system, and I had to be talked off of my ledge too.  It showed up after 36-ish hours and then hung around for 7 days.

    Me (34): MTHFR, PCOS, Endo, left salpingectomy due to hydrosalpinx, 
    hypothyroidism, low AMH (0.26)/normal FSH/average AFC of 12

    Him (33): No known issues

    November 2013-March 2014: Natural cycles
    April 2014: Clomid 100mg and Ovidrel trigger -- BFN
    May 2014: Clomid 100mg and Ovidrel trigger -- BFN
    July 2014:  IVF class -- Check!
    Holy crap.  Unmedicated BFP 7.22.14.  EDD 4.01.15.
    Best April Fool's Day ever!
    Now on Lovenox, prenatals, Vitamin D,
    Folic Acid, and Synthroid.
    Please be our take home baby.

    Negative HPT
    Positive OPK

    I hate the unknown.

    Mine didn't show positive until about 48 hours after the shot, then it stayed positive for 9 days, so that was awesome. I am sure you o'ed (hcg is pretty foolproof). Are you scheduled for 7 DPO bloodwork? If you aren't, you might want to ask for it just in case to ease your mind

    I am scheduled for a pregnancy test on May 15th.

    I told myself that I was going to be calm and not take a million HPTs during the 2ww... So far, that has not worked out for me.

    my ovidrel shot was gone 4 days later! I think everyone is different!

    February-Clomid 50 mg. unmontiored, EOD - BFN
    March-Switched to RE
    April- 100 mg Clomid/Ovidrel-BFN
    May - 100 mg Clomid/Ovidrel-BFN
    June-*BREAK/Switch RE*
    July- 5 mg Femara/Ovidrel + IUI #1- BFN
    August- 5 mg Femara/Ovidrel + IUI #2 - BFP!!!!
