Secondary IF

Intro (not sure where I belong)

Hi ladies. I'm an old timer that's back in a very different capacity and I have no idea where I belong anymore. I'm 29, DH is almost 30. My DD is 2.5 and we have a history of loss. I had a D&C because of bleeding and suspected retained placenta after DD was born. My OB botched the surgery badly and left me with severe Asherman's syndrome. Two surgeries, several other procedures, and thousands of dollars later we found out in January that I can definitely not carry another baby. We're still reeling and I'm trying to find a place where I can relate. I'm not sure that this is it, but I hope to add some sort of value here. I'm not sure how active I will be - some days are easier than others - but I will be here when I can.
After two losses, a rainbow arrived! DD born 11.5.11
Dx with severe Asherman's syndrome after a botched PP D&C (pursuing med mal)
Hysteroscopy Oct '13, not enough progress
Hysteroscopy Jan '14, given an end-of-the-road diagnosis
Joined International Asherman's Association April '14
Not ready to give up yet.
Hysteroscopy with Dr. Isaacson (an expert in the USA) 6.2.14: Good prognosis, at least 50% of cavity open.
Repeat hysteroscopy scheduled with Dr. I on 6.16.14. Great progress. Unbenched!!!!
Discussing actively TTC with DH after the heartache of the last year. We're both reeling.

Please, please, please.

  • I'm so sorry you are dealing with that. Take some time and think about how you want to proceed with your journey now that you have this information. Would you want to consider pursuing surrogacy? There is a great 3rd party reproduction board. There is an adoption board as well, if that is something you'd want to consider.

I don't think this board will be comfortable for you now, since everyone here is actively TTC either with medicated cycles, or more aggressive treatment cycles.

Wishing you the best of luck in the future with whatever avenue you choose to pursue.

Thank you for your response. You're probably right. We aren't in a position to pursue TPR right now, so I don't belong there either. I wish you all so much luck and so much love. Nobody deserves SIF. xo

  • I can't imagine being in your shoes.  I agree with everything Mrs Castillo said, but I see your response that you're not ready to consider TPR.  I hope you find a place that you feel at home and are able to heal emotionally.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you pursuing any legal ramifications for the Dr who botched the surgery?  I know if won't fix it, but I wouldn't want a Dr repeating the mistake on others either!
    Happily Mrs. C

Thanks for your kindness GraceyandTroy. We honestly have considered TPR, but we've spent our entire savings trying to fix my body post surgery-screw up. Best case scenario a carrier here is $60K, and adoption is complicated because of my husband's military history. I don't mind you asking about legal ramifications. We are currently in the beginning stages of a malpractice suit, but I'm not sure truthfully if my heart can handle it. I'm afraid of how many others may have been hurt like this.
