T&P needed NBR **UPDATE #2

My mom has been in ICU for three days now after emergency brain surgery. She doesn't know where she is or even her name. She has been hallucinating for about six hours and is in full restraints. The sedatives they have given are not knocking her out. Please keep my family in your thoughts. Thank you.

UPDATE-------thank you for all of the kind words. A few weeks ago, she began having some problems with speech, tremors, etc so the Dr scheduled a bunch of tests and suspected that she had had a stroke or an aneurysm. During the MRI, they found two active bleeds and she was sent directly to the hospital.

The Dr said that she sustained a traumatic brain injury from two falls she had in January and February. I was not aware of these falls and each of my brothers was only aware of one.

Some of you may remember that we just moved across the country to be closer to her. My brothers live out of state and out of country.

She has now been diagnosed with ICU psychosis which I had never heard of but now realize is very prevalent. It can last anywhere from hours to weeks and she will likely have to go to a care facility.

It is heartbreaking to watch. The nurse has marks all over from my mom pinching her. She is threatening to sue the hospital because of the restraints, wants to call police and has even stated she will chew off her hand.

She still doesn't know where she is.

UPDATE 2
My mom has been transferred out of ICU and is no longer combative. She is still very confused but the doctors think that will clear up. She will be going to a rehab facility this week.

For the family drama..... One of my brothers showed up at the hospital drunk last night and tried to block medical care. Both of my brothers took large amounts of money out of her account today. One flew home this morning and the other one leaves tonight. I've already been in touch with her bank and financial advisor and will start picking up the pieces that my brothers have broken.

I am devastated and feel physically ill that it had turned out this way.
