Foot injury (little long)

I'm really upset about this and my husband wants me to stop obsessing over it but I can't so... Your turn!
The other day I rolled my foot (hardly at all) on our gravel driveway. It's the same foot I broke about 5 years ago at this time of year and the pain I felt was similar. It's still bothering me pretty bad and feels a lot like it did when it was broken. It wasn't a bad break, the X-ray couldn't see the break I ended up needing an MRI to see it. I was on crutches and a walking boot for several weeks.
I'm so nervous it's broken again. It's attention drawing enough to be pregnant... I really don't wanna be a pregnant girl on crutches in a boot! I'm going to the ob today and will mention it. I'm almost 38 wks so it's probably better to just wait to get it X-rayd after the baby comes at this point anyway... I'm scared they're gonna tell me to just use crutches and stay off it as a precaution... Nooooo! Has anyone else been on crutches and 38 weeks prego? Is that even possible?!

Having been on crutches several times, I can't imagine being on them 38w PG!  However, I can't decide which would be worse - PG and crutches or new born and crutches.  I'd probably have to say PG would be harder for me bc I'd be so worried I'd fall and hurt the baby.  Maybe a walking boot would be an option.

Why wait for an X-ray? If it is broken, you need it immobilized and positioned properly. And radiology techs are trained to protect your belly with shields and vests, so there's no danger to you or the baby. Don't be a martyr. Just get it taken care of.

Thanks guys. Ya I still have my walking boot I think at my moms house so at least I wouldn't have to buy another one! I'll ask ob tody what they recommend I do and schedule a dr apt for Monday if I need a script for an x ray. I just didn't know of they would recommend I wait since it's not ideal when pregnant and I won't be pregnant that much longer (lord willing!!!)

Don't sweat the x-ray! Remember that preemies get chest x-rays in NICU.

  • I agree with PPs, an X-ray isn't dangerous enough to baby right now. Techs are trained to cover you up with the vests and whatnot, and your foot is far enough away from your belly they can position the X-ray machine far away from baby. Also, remember that your ligaments are super loose right now which makes everything unstable. It could be a very bad strain. Until ya get a Dr to look at it remember RICE (Rest Ice Compression Elevation) as much as possible. Hope you feel better OP!! Get it checked out now while you can and don't have LO in tow with ya for everything!! You'll feel much better!

Talked to ob... She felt around and said she doesn't think it's sprained. Ill call the ortho on Monday and be seen and have it xrayed if he thinks it's necessary. Thanks @anniemore‌ for the recommendation. I wasn't even gonna bother wrapping it I didn't think they made anything that slim or discrete! I'm rice-Ing so hopefully that does the trick
