Coming out of lurking

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself! I'm AL and my husband and I have three beautiful biological children, and are considering adoption to add a fourth child to our family. Do you guys have any suggestions on good reading material or places to start finding information on this process? The internet is full of information, so much actually that it's a bit overwhelming. Also, we are wondering if it may prove to be more of a challenge to adopt because we already have three biological children? (I hope I'm not offending anyone by asking that, but it seems that preference is given to families without children in a lot of cases. This is genuine curiosity though.) Anyway, nice to finally speak (type?) to you all!

    Welcome!

    We have a FAQ post at the top of the board that answers introductory questions and points out resources.

    Whether or not it may be more difficult depends on so many different factors. Some expectant parents may want their child placed in a family with siblings, while others may want their child to be an only. It also depends on what type of adoption your pursue

    Hello, and welcome. I usually suggest families new to adoption start out by reading an introductory book like Adoption for Dimmies or The Complete Idiot's Guide to Adoption (which I used and highly recommend). They will give you a good idea of the different kinds of adoption, processes, and issues common to adoption. After that, there 's a while list of book recommendations in the FAQs for the board. Good luck!

    Hi there!

    The only advice I have is not to rush the process. We researched adoption options and talked about the various agencies and adoption situations and possibilities for a long time until we finally felt we knew what route we wanted to go.
