What is everyone getting their mom for Mother's Day? I have no clue what to get her. She's coming up Mother's Day weekend to wait out baby #2, so I have to get her something.

Oooh, a photo printer is actually an awesome idea, my parents go to walgreens to print pics all.the.time. But aren't they kinda pricey?

We do flowers pretty much every year. DH is one of the worst gifters ever, and since I haven't ever really gotten to know my MIL (I know, I'm a TERRIBLE DIL), I'm no good either. It feels weird to get my mom and sister awesome gifts and send MIL flowers, so they all get flowers. If they were in town (or I was there), I'd probably just take them out to lunch or to get a pedi.

MIL and SMIL just get cards. I am a terrible DIL too.

My Mom just bought a new house so we are getting her plants to landscape her front yard with. We usually get a rose bush for my mother in law also.

Saw this on another post and stole the idea. I'll be making these with LOs name, and since I'm not good at picking out plants I'll probably fill it with random pampering things...chocolate, soaps etc...

My mom absolutely forbade me from getting her anything, so I think we're going with the footprint flowerpot. I need to print out pictures of DS from the entire past year and a half, too. I'm so behind! This will also be what we do for MIL. If I ever find the time, I'll also make them both a DVD of video and photos of DS from the past two years. I'm just such a newb at Photoshop (or whatever the video version of that is...can't remember the name!) that it takes for-eh-ver.

Acrylic - but it doesn't wash out of fabric, so be careful.

Also, I have learned the hard way over the years that painting a pot one solid color all over can make the paint bubble up after a while b/c the water seeps through the soil and terracotta. Apparently sealing the inside will prevent this, or you can just sponge paint and leave some of the terracotta showing.

My mom is probably happy with a text or Skype call, but I will probably send last-minute flowers.

You know what I haven't even thought of it...here's the thing I'm due in like 5 days my mind is everywhere but there. Maybe we will get them flowers and a card, maybe not but let's be honest I know they know our heads are in baby land right now. I freaken hope to be a mama to an outside baby by then! Ugh

Do not get a photo printer! It is so much easier to get prints from cvs or wherever. We've priced it out and it is much more expensive to print at home, especially it you print a ton

I'm probably not getting anything. I have a weird relationship with my mom now-things are awkward. Oh well

I do like that flowerpot idea though. Very sweet

My mom is the hardest person in the world to shop for and she gets her feelings hurt if the present isn't right.

And her birthday is May 15 so it is always a week or two away from Mother's Day. It sucks.

My mil collects pigs, so I had this made for her for Mother's Day. I have no idea what we are getting my mom, and my step mom gets a phone call/ text. I am really hoping dd "gets" me a tattoo for Mother's Day. I doubt it will happen with dh's birthday the day before, he won't want to spend his birthday money on me :P

For my mom I am doing a shadow box of a picture of my mom, sister, myself and little man at the beach when we visited in December with sand and shells in the shadow box.

I am making this for MIL on a canvas tote in red and black with little man's actual name

Great grandma's are getting cards. I really want the mother's day bead for my pandora bracelet but if my hubby actually figured out something cute and crafty to do with little man I would love that too.

I'm still working on figuring out what to get for my mom. For MIL we usually get chocolate because she is really picky about most things and therefore impossible to shop for but this year she's dieting so I have to figure out something else.

Update! Epic fail on my Mother's Day pot idea...I could make one of those "nailed it" pics

I can't figure out why it isn't working... I painted the pot in a white acrylic paint and her foot print just slides and smears all over

we even waited until she was asleep and still just smudged/no toes etc... We tried less paint and more paint, everything! I'm wondering if the white paint is too glossy.

Michael's sells some spray paint stuff that is clear but that gives it "texture" so the acrylic paint will stick to it. I think it's called a "clear base coat" and it's in the same aisle/section as the other spray paint. I almost accidentally bought it instead of sealer.

We had one foot that smeared a little bit, and I ended up with green paint in my hair, on my jeans and on the basement carpet. I still consider it a win though. My mom is super crafty & I am not. She'll never see this coming!!

Our footprint art is pretty tricky, too! Hobby Lobby didn't have flower pots, so I grabbed glass cookie jars instead. They are SO slick! It took DH and I working together to get the left foot wing done on 4 jars, and by that point DS was over it. We'll try to get the right foot wings done tonight. FWIW we found that having DH hold the foot really still and me mashing the jar into the foot and then slowly rolling it across made the fewest smears. It also helped when the paint was a tad tacky and not spread on the foot too thick. (We painted it onto his feet rather than having him step into a puddle of paint like the tutorial.)
