I've always been curious. Saw an ad for one (brand deleted so no one thinks I'm trying to hawk some product...) exfoliator but I know there are lots of brands....I'm edging up on 40 and the acne on my chin in the last year has been terrible, constantly breaking out, I have used some prescription stuff & tried a retinol product a couple times a week for a couple of months, but no improvement. I know drinking water, etc but am very curious about exfoliation & these exfoliators- i love when they use them at a facial so thought maybe i'd like them at home.
Thoughts? yay or nay? Any brand recs if you love yours & truly feel it has made a difference?

I have a Clarisonic. I really like it. You still need to exfoliate separately because it is meant for deep cleaning more so than exfoliation. It sounds like you might me drying your skin out and causing it to over produce oil. Considering what you said in your post, I would suggest a Clarisonic, Josie Maran Argan Oil (I freakin love this stuff), and a glycolic acid toner.

I have the Clarsonic as well and love it.  I have very fair sensitive skin and I use it once a week roughly or when I feel like the texture of my skin is rough.  I love it.  I just use my daily face wash with it.  I think it has improved the texture of my skin and fine lines.

I have a Clarisonic and love it.  It doesn't exfoliate, but it does deep clean.  I use it in the shower with a normal gentle face cleanser (the heat and steam from the shower opens up your pores more).  When I first started using it, I actually had some breakouts, which is apparently normal -- it brings stuff from the depths of your pores to the surface, which is where clogs occur.  I definitely notice a HUGE difference in my skin when I use it vs. when I don't use it.
