I know that I want to create a birth plan & noticed that TB has a form that you can print & fill out. I feel so lost looking at this! I feel like I have so many questions before being able to fill this out. At this point, my OB hasn't really discussed anything to do with L&D, but I'm assuming that is coming up in future appointments. I'm at 24 weeks today & have an appointment today so I guess I will ask then. I'm also assuming that some of my questions will be answered when we do our maternity ward tour, which is hopefully happening today as well.
Did you come up with your birth plan more from online research, talking to your OB, talking to friends/family that have been thru it, reading books? I want to get this taken care of soon so it's one less thing to worry about.
Re: Birth Plan?
My hospital has a template for moms to fill out...

I didn't have a birth plan with my prior pregnancies. I'm using a birth center in a hospital this time, and they meet with you to make one.
I want mine really simple. I've heard that you should keep it to one page, and make it as simple as possible. Don't put things in there that they do anyway. Bullet points are probably the way to go.
son#1 born 6/2010
son#2 born 4/2012
son#3 born 7/2014
Here's mine:
No epidural
Poss pain medication if needed
Try not to puke.
Yup- that's about it.
No IV (unless otherwise needed but I just had a line in last time it wasn't hooked up until after baby was out, I stayed hydrated enough and wasn't GB+)
No pain meds
Wireless monitors (so I can move freely)
Labor in bath tub until time to push
DS Grayson (3yrs) (Emergency Csec)
DD Isabella due 8/2/2014
2. Epidural
I think it's great to have a plan/ goals but I've known women to feel like failures if they ended up with an epi or emergency C

I think for me I am pickier about what happens immediately after birth than I am about what happens during labor. During labor I want whatever is necessary to keep me & baby healthy & comfortable. But after delivery I want delayed clamping, I want skin to skin contact, want to make sure they don't try formula feeding, etc.
