Next Week Is Teacher Appreciation Week

Do y'all do anything for your kids' teachers? I think I want to make something but I'm not sure what. Any ideas?

The past couple of years I bought a small aloe plant and then printed a little sign and stuck it in the plant.

FTR I'm not all stressed, it's just a thought I'm entertaining.

  • The kids is DHs class usually do something for him. It varies from candy to gift cards.  One of his kids parents owns a local restaurant and has given him several gift certificates. He doesn't expect anything but I think he appreciates any effort that is made :)
  • As a high school teacher, I never get anything for anything except eye rolls.

Hah, this is me as well. I'll be 40 weeks next week - I would appreciate going into labor.

Our PTO is giving us an appreciation breakfast and they asked parents to donate things to us like tissues, hand sanitizer and clorox wipes!

  • Oh, we have daily gift suggestions at daycare. DAILY.

Like new suggestions everyday or "here's some shit you can bring in daily?"

  • I don't think the parents here do much. Gifts are usually given at winter holiday and at the end of the school year. The PTO does give each teacher a small gift next week. Also, I'm a volunteer baker for PTO and we were asked to drop off treats one day next week also.

My standard gift for teachers is a gc to Target unless I personally know them. Even if it's a small amount, it can go towards classroom supplies, personal household staples, a treat for themselves etc.

  • Okay so I should apparently pay more attention to the emails the daycare director sends out. I knew they were doing themed days, but I didn't read through and see that the themes correlated with gifts:

    • Monday is Superhero Day! – All teachers and children are encouraged to dress up as a superhero. Anyone can be a superhero. You can create your own or dress like one of the well-known superhero’s. Be sure to bring back the attached picture by Monday.

    • Tuesday is Flower Power Day! – We invite you to bring in flowers for each of your child’s teachers. We can’t wait to see the beautiful bouquets that grow from all the children!

    • Wednesday – We will be hosting a “Superhero Fuel Up Pot Luck Lunch” for our teachers lunch. Please see the front desk for a sign up sheet to bring something as we recognize our teachers with a wonderful luncheon.

    • Thursday Candy Grams – We invite you and your children to bring their favorite teachers a piece of candy to show appreciation (i.e. Hershey’s Kisses - “Kisses for My Teacher”). Teachers love candy at any time of the week, but we are naming Thursday, Candy Gram Day! We will have handy templates if you would like to attach a short note from your child onto the candy.

    • Friday is You Make A Difference Day – Please use our “You Make A Difference” cards to recognize your child’s favorite teacher. Turn them into your director so the teacher can be recognized!

  • Ok so I didn't realize it was Teacher Appreciation Week but I did know that Friday is Provider Appreciation Day for daycare providers.  I like the idea but I actually super hate that the people who created it intentionally chose the Friday before Mother's Day as if to say, let's honor the stand in mothers around the same time, kwim?

I'm giving Gerbera daisy plants to the teachers in each boy's room.

Omg, we got this list too! I was all willing at first to do something cute, and then I saw the list and I'm like WTF, really? We pay an insane tuition, I'm not paying for a daily present too. I think I'm going to do a cheap, but cute/cheesy pintrest craft. Like a basket of Simple lemonade and Donuts with a note that says "You're simply the best, I donut want to leave your class" (Since she's moving up to the next age group soon)
