Which baby carrier do you recommend?

Now that many of us have had the chance to test out our baby carriers, I'm looking for some recommendations. My mom gave me the JJ Cole Agility stretch carrier for Xmas and I looked it up after I got it and it had great reviews, so I decided to keep it. Problem is...it doesn't seem to fit my baby? According to its size chart I am a small (upper end of small) but my mom gave me a medium. A review I read said it runs small so I figured medium would work out well then. It says that the carrier is meant for babies 8-25 pounds, but DS is 6.5 lbs and he barely fits??? Also, he seems to hate it. He fusses whenever I put him in, so it's obvious that it is just not the right carrier for us.

Is there a carrier that works out well to breast feed in? The carrier I have isn't positioned that way, but I feel that of there is one out there that works well for that that I would like it, especially for NIP.

Thanks!

I have this Boba wrap and my son loves being in it. It's a little tricky to figure out at first but I had it down after a couple uses. Even my husband wore it! It was cute :)https://www.amazon.com/Boba-BW1-005-Gray-Wrap-Grey/dp/B005SP2LWW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399037651&sr=8-1&keywords=boba+wrap

Same as LalaMama81. Ring sling and Moby tye wraps are my favorite for the first few months. I actually used a ring sling with my older DS until he was 2 years old. I have a wrap conversion ring sling.

  • I have the Beco Butterfly II Organic Infant Baby Carrier. It has an infant insert that fits my 7 pounder. The carrier has been used with 2 of my kids and my sister kid and each one love it.

Sounds like he is definitely too small for the one you have at least for a few more weeks. I am a big fan of ring slings and moby type wraps for the first few months (they can be used longer than that though).

He barely fits cause it's so snug. :( I wonder if I needed a large... How are the ring slings/moby wraps for nursing?

  • I'm using a Belle Baby carrier or a wrap right now. Soon enough i'll transition to our Boba 3G carrier.... maybe around 3-4 months old.
  • Personally, I've never been able to nurse while baby wearing and I use many types of carriers. My boobs are just to big and practically smoother my kids. I know many moms with bigger boobs have but I've just never had success.

  • My K tan is supposed to be delivered today and I'm so excited to try it out. I had a Moby before and though I likes the way it carried her it was just too much fabric and too complicated for me.

  • I love my baby k'tan wrap for right now. DS fusses getting him in and then calms right down. The coverage is great and I've found that it's so easy to position him for BFing in it! Then again I have a baby who has been super easy to nurse in any position. I've used it since we came home 3 weeks ago.

I also have a Becco Gemini structured carrier that I haven't used yet with this LO.

  • I am loving my K tan right now. It is super easy to use and comfortable. I don't like my ring sling and my ergo with the insert is a PITA I hate it. I am hoping I like it better when he gets bigger because I wasted a lot of money if not.
  • I have a Moby, ergo, sling, bijorn and some no name brand. The Ergo is the best. It's not even a close call... The Ergo wins hands down.

I personally love ring slings. DS didn't love being in it, so I tried a Moby. There's a lot of fabric there, and it was intimidating when DS was screaming to try to wrangle all that fabric. I bought a K'tan and it's awesome! I put DS in it several times per day and our works like a charm when he's fussy. If you get a K'tan I would recommend sizing down. It's not one size fits all, and the fabric stretches. I am typically 115lbs and wear sm and xs shirts, but I'm still 40lbs heavier and went with a small. Good luck!

  • @andrewsgal I hated the ergo with insert. Stupid and awkward. I liked it a lot later, though, especially when I could start putting her on my back.
