Hellish day & night

DS turns 1 week old today and yesterday and last night was rough. He normally sleeps great during the day and OK at night but yesterday he didn't want to sleep at all.. As the day went on he got fussier and fussier and then last night would not stop screaming. We tried everything.. Changing hmm, feeding him (I even did cluster feedings), burping him. DH ended up taking not one but two car rides with him around 4 am and he finally fell asleep and slept the rest of the night in his car seat

Just wondering if anyone has any advice? We have a rockaroo (similar to mamaroo) that he hates but I'm tempted to go buy him a big, ugly swing today to see if that helps.

No advice, but I feel your pain! Mine is 3 weeks old & was playing a similar game. Won't sleep & gets fussier & fussier then wants to eat every hour at night but will only eat for like 6 min, so frustrating!

Don't know about the swing. Mine is 6 days old and the swing doesn't impress her either. Really she likes nothing except being held.

We have the RNP and that's where he sleeps normally.. But it's funny he has to already be passed out or he hates it

Usually when my little guys are super fussy it's gas. Have you tried putting him on his back and doing bicycle legs or using gas drops?

I was thinking this too.. We have tried the bike legs but not the drops. But we did buy some, I think it may be time to use them!

My baby is only 15 days old so I'm no expert by any means, but I have definitely had a couple stretches like this. Babies go through a lot of phases and I'm definitely guilty of looking at a current behavior as the new normal rather than a phase, but we have always come out the other side after a few days. If you want a swing, it wouldn't hurt to buy one but I would probably wait another day or two to see if he grows out of it. Most babies hit a growth spurt between 7-10 days and growth spurts can really throw us for a loop.

Try laying him face down across your knees and swaying him back and forth. My mom did this with my daughter when she was gassy and it was magic. I read that it helps with cramps and gas. Worth a shot I'm sure

Gripe water? 5 S's? Are you bottle feeding. We switched to Dr Brown bottles & saw an improvement with gas. Sorry you had a rough night!

Yeah when we had a night like this it was gas. Like an hour of burping later he settled down. He was really hungry but couldn't eat because his stomach hurt from gas.
