Cloth Diapering

Favorite trim diaper?

Mine so far has been the NBGE (haven't tried the OBGE yet) - I feel like they absorb just as well as our FreeTime's but with 1/2 the bulk and we really love them. Ordered a couple more of them in the Seconds Sale ;)

So, what is your favorite trim diaper that I should try?

  • I think NBGEs are so bulky! Well...wide. Which make them seem bulky. Grovia AIOs are my trimmest. There were another post on this same topic a few days ago. I'd link for you if I wasn't mobile
I'll look for the other post! Interesting, I never thought the crotch was obnoxiously wide :) Definitely is wider than our FreeTime's though! The NBGE looks the best under her leggings - I have a couple Moraki's and I think those things are ridiculous bulky....she looks like she's rocking major moose knuckle (I can't even call it camel toe, because the bulk is seriously a lot). Granted, she's still little so maybe she'll grow into the bulk better?

Another vote for flats and covers here.  I also like Best Bottoms with the cotton/hemp inserts.

We really love our Best Bottoms, probably our 2nd favorite of what we've tried - We only have the stay-dry inserts though. Will definitely pick up some cotton/hemp!

good to know about the moraki.  i've been eyeballing them for awhile because i love their prints, but i'm afraid to spend that much on a diaper...now you've given me more to think about

She already had a NBGE on so I thought I'd show you the difference. Here she is in the NBGE

Ugh, couldn't attach pics from mobile. Anyways, here she is (with onesie one) in the NBGE and then the Moraki (tye-dye)

  • LOL, I have the elephant one too (crazy adorable) and hate to say it but they are VERY nicely made. Very nice. I will say, our BG's absorb better/longer...they are by no means bad though. Just can't use them for overnight because (praise the Lord) she sleeps from 10-8 every night. I have a stay-dry and the organic.

    Sorry, not sorry ;)

Probably the organic. She has the stay-dry on in the pic but the organic is just a tad more trim (barely noticeable). They absorb just about the same, but it does take a little longer to dry. I put everything in my drier to finish drying and to soften them up though (we have really, really hard water), so it's hard to say how long it takes to hang dry.

  • @SecretAgentKate‌ we love our tour de pants moraki (bicycle print)! It is a great diaper and super cute! But @FifisMommy‌ that pic sure makes the NBGE look good!
I need one of these!  Your little boy looks so cute in it.  It doesn't look like it's available anymore though.  Just my luck  :((

  • Agree that flats and covers are trimmest.

Can't believe no one has said Simplex 2.0 yet. Maybe they're going out of style?
  • haileyqhaileyq member
My sized Simplex is pretty trim, but for fit in my LO I think the GroVia AIO is trimmer. My 2.0 is a size large, and I think that one will fit through PLing, but I doubt the GroVia will. Also, it's started getting little holes around the leg elastics, and I haven't had it for very long! WTH?
  • Our trimmest dipes are flats and covers, Freetimes (they are crazy bulky at first though), and OS Simplex.

  • I hated our freetimes, so I sold them. They were huge!

I find any pocket to be fairly trim if I get rid of the microfiber insert and use bamboo or hemp. It makes a huge difference.

I like my GroVia aio, but they are starting to leak at the wings. I think he pees a bunch at once and it doesn't have time to distribute to the back of the soaker. They are very trim, though!

Bamboo or hemp inserts laid in any cover are very trim also. One of my favorites.

Covers and flats. But I love our Softbums too. They seem super comfy on her and not bulky at all.

  • Maybe I'll change my mind about BGE when LO gets older, but right now its pretty bulky, especially between the legs.
My favorites for a nice trim fit are:
-Thirsties Pockets (comes with a hemp insert, and the double gussets help you to get a good fit)
    - Best Bottoms with Hemp insert (trim, yet absorbent enough that we can use for overnight currently, the shells are a bit stiff compared to others but again love the double gussets)
    - Softbums (love that there's no bulky snapped down rise to deal with, love the wide curved back of the OS insert so you don't get that square butt look. Also the Echo with the mini bamboo pod was trimmer and fit better on my days old newborn than my actual 'newborn' diapers)

I *loved* our SoftBums w/Mini Pods for those first few weeks. We don't use them as much now - I don't know why, I just don't grab for them very often. She outgrew the absorbency of the mini pods and all I have are the great big bamboo pods and they're just too bulky on her for my liking. They work great though, I think I'll love them more in a few months.

  • I still can't believe I'm the only one that thinks NBGE's are super trim. They look so great under onesies & leggings! No big puffy crotch or fighting to snap over onesies. I must be weird :)

Do you have any flats or FST (flour sack towels)? They make great stuffers for Softbums for when the OS pods are still big.

Our Grovia AIO are definitely the trimmest, but definitely not my favorite. I actually find myself reaching for them last. Like someone else said, the crotch is just so narrow I can't imagine them fitting her up to 30 or 35 lbs, whatever they say they do.

Speaking of Moraki... I have had my eye on their ruffle diapers for months but couldn't get myself to spend that much. But now that I'm looking at them again and today is payday.....

I'll be the devil on your should...buy one! ;-)  Partially, because I can't.  They are so stinking adorable.  If we were having a girl I would be all over those ruffles.

  • I made a promise to myself that if I was going to spend 20+ on a diaper from this point on it has to be gender neutral incase we have a boy down the road.

Now I find myself saying well it's not like anyone is going to see if my hypothetical boy has ruffles on his diaper.....

Okay. Maybe. I have to decide what color combo I like the most, they are all beautiful. I have my eye on the "hippie/lavender"

  • I just looked at Kelly's Closet and saw that they were sold out. How sad! Sorry, didn't mean to flaunt the un-buy-able fluff. :)
yeah, i'm pretty sure the bikes were a limited edition.  i saw one on ebay last night though.  Current bid was $47 with 5 days still to go.  *eyeroll*
I remember seeing it as Ltd Edition on Kelly's a while back but at the time didn't realize Ltd Edition means "buy it now or pay double later".   I may try the etsy route and see if I can get one in the same fabric like you did.
