Pregnant after a Loss

at what week did you notice your bump?

Hi ladies! Just wondering because I was never lucky enough to have a bump before and I am on the lookout! I always admired the bump pics and can't wait to get my own. I know I have some time because I am only at 8w4d, but would like to know when it happened for others to see when I can expect to get my very own! Thanks!

Re: at what week did you notice your bump?

  • It seems like I got a bump immediately.  I realize that it was bloat at first, but I really couldn't tell you when it stopped being bloat and started being baby.  It just kept getting bigger and bigger.  Sorry, I know that doesn't help. :/

  • I didn't notice a real bump until 22-24 weeks.  I'm on the taller side, so maybe that was why?  It will happen though!
  • I could notice a bump at 13 weeks if I accented with a belt or wrapped my hands around my belly, but not just standing around normal. I would say the bump became undeniable around 16-17 weeks.

  • It started to be noticeable to family around 16 weeks, and strangers started commenting by 19 or 20.

I noticed bloating since 8 weeks, around 12 weeks the bloating went away and my actual belly started showing at 14 weeks. This is my second pregnancy and my doctor said is "normal" to show that early. People started noticing at 18 weeks, I couldn't hide it, it was too big... I was 63kg before getting pregnant, now I am about 85...

Mine was very late (causing anxiety and some BPF-envy!).  My regular jeans stopped fitting at about 15 weeks; other pants OK til 20.  It didn't look like a proper bump (as opposed to a paunch/beer belly/whatever) until sometime in the 20s -really like 24 or later - depending on how charitable one wanted to be about calling it a bump.  :)

I have the body type where fat goes immediately to my belly before anywhere else and also a fairly long torso and big hip bones and ribs so that all contributed to the lateness and not having the really noticable bump people with many other body types get.  Baby and bump had more room to spread out sideways and up and down.  Even now at 39 weeks it's not sticking out as bump-ily as many people at about 30-32 weeks.  In fact my SIL is still not convinced it's bigger than my brother's belly!

ETA - Congrats on this pregnancy!  You're off to a great start and FX that everything keeps going well and you'll have your cute bump before you know it!

  • I think this can depend on a few things - how you're built, what pregnancy it is for you, etc.

What's weird is with DS1, I had a bump around 15 weeks. With this pregnancy (second full term pregnancy, fifth pregnancy total), I didn't have a bump til around 20 weeks. I am pretty tall and have a long torso.

  • For me it was around week 12 that I started getting a tiny real bump under my bloat belly. 14 was when people started commenting on it. Now at 16 the bloat/organs being pushed up bump and the real bump are almost merged into one. This is my 1st, but my mom said she showed really early with her first (my brother) too.

  • I think I noticed "blump" (bloat + bump) at around 16 weeks. I didn't have a true bump until 20-21 weeks.

Thanks ladies!! I was trying to see what responses might apply to me. This was very helpful. I'm pretty tall with a long torso so I will expect to wait a bit for the bump but that is ok! :-)

I haven't had a bump (yet), but this and all the cute BPFs today got me looking forward to that stage. And I'm looking forward to all the new BPFs that are coming up to, with all the moms who are turning that corner into 2nd tri. Cheers to cute bellies!
