Umbrella strollers

We have a City Mini GT that I love, but lately DS hates it. Major tantrums when I try to get him into the CM GT. Instead, he requests the cheapie BRU-special umbrella stroller that DH bought before doing any research. It's super-light and okay for emergencies or as a second stroller. I think DS likes it because it is easy for him to climb in without help, and he has great peripheral vision when sitting in it.

But it's not for every day, and not for a lifestyle in which we primarily walk and use buses and trains to get around. And, I hate it. It has no basket. And it doesn't recline, which DS needs because he is in the habit of napping in the stroller. Also, it sends vibrations from the ground up into my hands and wrists and elbows like nobody's business. It is seriously uncomfortable to push.

Is there an umbrella stroller out there that has the following -- basket, recline, comfortable to push on uneven paving and/or finely textured asphalt/concrete. The lighter the better, because we have 5 tall steps from our front door to the sidewalk. (I have developed a special technique for bouncing the CM down and pulling it up) TIA!

Thanks everyone! I did a bit more research last night and learned that some strollers have shock absorbing wheels, either all 4 or just the rear wheels. Do you find that this makes a difference?

@vinceandang we have a dog too, and DS has really become accustomed to napping during walks. Will definitely look at the G-Luxe! It keeps on coming up with great reviews.

I love my G-luxe and it rides very well. Like pp we used ours for walks no problem. My only critiques of the G-luxe is the basket is smallish and it's hard to push one handed.
If I were to do it again I'd probably get a Valco Snap (I have the double). It weighs within a lb of the G-luxe, has a huge basket, easier to use recline than my G-Luxe, and also has a carrying strap. It also goes over curbs better than the G-luxe. Valco also has amazing customer service.

Either way I think you'd be happy.

If you want an umbrella style stroller that is more substantial, check out the cybex callisto. It might be too tall to climb into, but it has all the features of a big stroller. I just got one recently. It does have 4 wheel suspension and you can drive with 1 hand.

I looked at both the g-luxe and maclaren quest and went with the quest. The seat is bigger and the buckle is easy for me to do but no way can my 3 year old figure it out! It reclines flat and rated for a newborn. It has a window in the back so you can check on the child. I don't love the canopy but I only use it for quick trips or indoors. I purchased a canopy extender just in case (protect a bub).

we have the gluxe and have been pleased with it. It doesn't have the biggest basket in the whole world but its decent. We like the recline feature and I love the sun shade, kickstand, and shoulder strap. For us, it was worth the $ and we use it 10x more than our UB Vista

I have a Maclaren Triumph. You can open it with one hand. It's only 11 lbs. it has a shopping basket and UPF umbrella shade. You do pretty much need two hands to push it. The wheels aren't shock absorbing, but the handles are heavily padded. I love mine and would definitely recommend it.
