I switched from iPhone 4 to Galaxy S III about a year and a half ago. I got the extra battery pack so my battery life is CRAZY, I charge it only every 2-3 days! BUT I dropped it twice and decided the second time not to get the screen repaired. I've been working with a cracked screen for a while now so I am super excited to have gotten a bonus in my paycheck this week to get a new smartphone. That being said, I'm not eligible for an upgrade for a while, so while I would LOVE to have a Galaxy S5 (they're freakin' waterproof!!!) I don't want to shell out the money right now. I'll be purchasing a new Google Nexus 5:
The main thing that I like about the Samsung and Google phones versus the iPhone is that I can put an SD card in, I can take the phone apart and add more battery, I can download and open ANY type of file, I can work on a word processor, and I can customize to the moon and back. Otherwise I LOVE the iPhones and think that they are excellent phones as well.
H and I just upgraded. AT&T has a program just like Verizon called the next program and that's what we did. I got the S5 he got the note 3. I changed from an iPhone 4s to the s5 and so far I love it.
It is a lot to get used to and a big change but I've been out of work sick today and it's gave me time to play with it a little bit.
DH and I both had the S3 and I loved it. When I upgraded I got the Note 3 and that phone is my favorite thing in the whole world. I prefer to use it over the ipad and, while it's HUGE, I can't go back. I prefer the interface of the Samsung Android phones to the iPhone, but I also haven't ever had an iPhone.
I know DH is going to be happy to hear about the Prime because I keep telling him we can't afford to get him a new phone, and hopefully the Prime will drop the S5 price. We do the deal with T-Mobile that we pay full price for the phone and our monthly rate is cheaper. DH did some analysis on it (he's an analyst for work) and if we keep our phones for more than 21 months we're saving money. The hard part is shelling out $600 for a phone up front!
I have the S4 as a hand me down from my husband he got the S5 we both like our phones, he is someone who is big into phones, me ehh not so much it's nice to have but I don't use a lot of the features.
I have a samsung galaxy s3 and I hate it. Actually hate isn't strong enough. It fell less than a foot and the screen cracked. It constantly drops calls, it is always downloading the same stupid files that someone sent me a year ago, it will fail at sending texts for no reason and it will completely lock itself up at any given time. Sprint has acknowledged that the handset is defective, but will not replace it because the screen is cracked. They want me to pay $150 for the cracked screen...and for that much I would rather get a new phone.
Since sprint has been so unbelievably unhelpful for a customer of over 10 years, I will be leaving them in November when my contract is up. As to another Galaxy, well they would have to make it the most awesome phone in the planet for me to do that again. The handset was broken and Samsung did nothing. I love the look of the new note and whatever that other large phablet they have, but it is not enough for me to buy another one of their phones.

I got the S5 on Saturday and I love it! The sound clarity is so crisp and I have been happy with the battery life. Husband can upgrade next week and he will also be getting a S5...he can't wait!
I was warned against Samsung if you ever go anyplace slightly remote or out of the city. DH and I currently live in the city, but our family is from northern Wisconsin and they said something about the internal antennae wasn't as good? But we have Verizon, do take that with some salt because they seem partial to Motorola and Apple.
I had an S3 before I got my iPhone 5s and I loved it! If I didn't have my iphone, I'd totally get the S5, but like pp mentioned I'd wait until the next new one comes out if it's coming out that soon!

Thanks ladies. Looks like I have to wait while the rest of the family on our plan (there are 5 of us) get things figured out. The S5 is looking to be a front runner
