My LO is 4 wks tomorrow. I started her off nursing but we had to switch to pumping/bottle feeding/supplementing because she dropped too much weight in her first 3 days of life on the outside, partly due to being preterm and also jaundice. So I did that for a couple weeks and when I got her close to her birth weight, I started introducing nursing again, starting a few days ago. When I was only pumping I was able to get about 2-2.5 oz from the right and about 1 oz on the left. With nursing, I switch sides each feeding and try to pump the other side, to keep up supply. However I've noticed that I get barely anything out of the left, and less than 1 oz out of the right. Is this normal? I nurse/pump every 2-2.5 hours during the day and I feed her a bottle of pumped breast milk mixed with formula around 10pm, as well as her next night feeding, around 1am. She has another feeding around 3 or 4am, which I've been trying to nurse.
Any thoughts/ideas welcome. Will consult a LC tomorrow as well, but thought I'd out this out to the community tonight. Thanks!

Re: Nursing on 1 side + pumping on other
I would offer both sides at each feeding. You really should only be getting an ounce or two "extra" a day. Increase water to at least 1 liter. Make sure you are taking vitamins. Eat. You can pump a few times a day after your LO has fed to help make more, but having your LO at the breast is the best to increase. The more demand equals more milk. Also skin to skin. Take a day and just snuggle and nurse. Good luck!
