So I was lurking on fb and came across a post wrote by a fellow baby wearer. Anyways she ran into another BW mama and they exchanged kind words about NIP and then she had gave her this card. I think this is such a great idea and I really wish there was more people out there like that!imageimage

  • That's awesome! I've never been approached by anyone or gotten a smile from another mom. Normally it's the stare for a second and quickly look away. I don't think I would ever have the courage to say anything to another nursing mom in fear she would think I was a freak and get creeped out.

This topic came up months ago. Somebody on here had a collection of cards. Apparently it's really common/popular/not uncommon to give these out where the person lives. I want to say it was somebody in the MidWest/up North.
    Anybody? Bueller?
  • Oh sorry @LC122‌ I haven't been on much anymore so I probably missed it....these are so neat!

@acethebase‌, no worries. I was thinking you had been MIA. It was seriously months ago. I really don't remember who it was and was asking.

  • This is great ...I haven't seen this before. I nurse DD wherever , I don't have a cover but try to be discrete about it. I haven't really noticed if people are starring , I guess I'm to preoccupied.

  • I recently saw someone BF at The Costco. I always get stupid happy when I see someone NIP and probably look like a creep smiling at them.
I always have my cover stashed in my purse, but the boy is too big and his hands/legs are all over the place. It's far more discreet without the cover.

  • Love these!

Speaking of nursing in public, I nurse LO every day at lunch at his daycare center; I sit in the back, in a rocking chair, behind the cribs so I am practically hidden. Anyway, yesterday I was asked to use a cover; later I found out all the teachers were asking the mothers to use a cover. I was caught so off-gaurd that I didn't say anything besides "I won't be covering, but thanks".  I was so ticked for the rest of the day. I should add that the daycare center is on the base I work at so it's government run!

The asked one of my friends to do the same later in the day and she was already warned by me so she went  a bit ape shit on them.

I nurse in public everywhere. I'm pretty good at being discrete, but don't care if someone isn't (or if I'm unable to be).

Do you live in SoMd? A similar thing happened at the base daycare here. So I was just wondering if it was the same incident or possibly a base daycare thing. The crazy part is my husband always does daycare pick up and drop off, but he went to a school in Cali, so I have been. Since I work longer hours I've been nursing there so they don't use the third bottle and nobody has said anything to me, and I actually have been practicing doing it without a cover there which I usually prefer to use. If it was the same incident the mommy handled it like a pro!

The bullets on this card pissed me off, too. They are pointless. Otherwise it's a neat idea.

I live in an incredibly conservative area, so NIP is probably not going to happen. Even my DH is freaked out by it. I wish I could though - some days I'm all IDGAF but I just don't want to deal with the drama that would ensue. I love these cards!

  • I've had to NIP frequently lately due to traveling... Graceful and discreet are not words that I would use to describe my NIP experience haha! I try to use the cover but DS won't have any if it!

So sad that I live in one of the two states that doesn't protect a mother's right to NIP. I call bullshit!!!!

I still NIP, but I do it with a cover on.

Yes! @SmileMom2013‌ I work at Pax :-). E's mom handled with grace, as she always does :-). Another mom didn't, and I don't blame her! I'm still baffled over the whole situation.

I am feeling a little bitchy today, and this is semi-triggering. I struggle with body image issues AND I struggle to NIP discreetly (there is no calming these tits). It took me months to feel comfortable without a cover - if DS didn't fight it I'd probably still use one. ANYways. I was proud of myself after my first NIP experience. And I expressed that to my lactivist friend, who then proceeded to rip me a new one about how long it took me to NIP and how I'm hurting my baby and other nursing moms by not feeding to his comfort level and normalizing NIP.

The cards are nice to show support, but I would probably feel waves of judgement from an innocent gesture because of this previous experience.

  • I saw that post and thought it was so cool. I've never gotten a card or even a second look. I think it's cool when I see a momma doing it though.

  • @Sweet Tooth 87‌ it definitely sounds like E's mom handled it perfectly. I wouldn't have been able to. I didn't hear about the other mom. I don't know what I would have done! Crazy that it happened at the daycare of all places!
  • I've nursed uncovered in my car, but when I'm out to eat I cover up. I w as nursing covered a few months ago and had an older lady come up to me and tell me I was doing awesome. It still gives me warm fuzzies. :)

I've actually never noticed anyone NIP which is strange now that I think about it. I wonder if it is just not as common around here or if I just never noticed. I EP so this really doesn't apply to be but I do think I would have a hard to getting used to it.

I'm not very graceful with it, so the extent of my NIP is the car or conference room at my church. I think it is cool others can tho, and have total envy.
