  • I just tried out the menstrual cup this time around and kind of like it. You can wear it for up to 12 hours, which is nice on lighter flow days.

No ((((hugs)))).  It's been awhile since there was a post on this but a lot of us went from using tampons pre-loss to being pad users.

I have a friend who uses it and she said it takes some getting used to at first but she would never go back to anything else.  If its in right you aren't supposed to feel it...like a tampon.

I haven't been brave enough to try it yet.

I gave the Diva Cup a try for a couple months, several years ago. I found it somewhat messy and annoying...I could never really "forget" it was there. I was never brave enough to work out with it in, either. I had a spillage situation one day and have it up completely after that!
I have trouble imagining how you get it in and out (does it have a string?) and also how you get it out without making a huge mess.   :-??

I use the Diva Cup and I like it because it does not irritate my super sensitive and allergy prone skin. I was never one of those people who could not feel a tampon so feeling the Diva Cup is no biggie for me. It does have a grippy little extension that you pull it out with. I think one of the main things people get confused about is that the cup does not sit way up in the vagina like a tampon does. When the cup is in I can still feel the very end of it with out using the full length of my finger so pulling it out with 2 fingers is no problem. I fold mine a bit before I take it out so that the suction is broken and I always make sure to pull it out before it gets so full that it would leak. It takes some trial and error but I have not had any messes in a long time.
And you can't feel it?  How big it is?

  • I picked SS because since my period is sooo stinkin' light (which I know I should not complain) I mainly just use panty liners which I don't think of the same as a pad.  Sometimes only once a period is it heavy enough to bother with a slim tampon for like 10 hours - and even then when I take it out it's not full.  Because through treatment cycles I know I get a thick enough lining, I always wonder if my LPD or something else is what causes my period to be unbelievably light compared to others.  I mean, does my body just reabsorb it all? WTH?

@buggirl72 I used the Soft Cup disposable. I chose that one because it was less expensive than the reusable one and I wouldn't have to keep it around if I hated it. I hardly felt it and I'm sure I would get more used to it.  I was more worried about leakage, which didn't happen. I did choose to wait until I was home for most of the day and wore a liner as backup just in case.

Edited. Sorry for the weird quoting

I feel like I would probably like the cup style better. The soft cup has a ring that holds it in place without a grippy part. It was kind of difficult to get it back out, but really easy to put in.

And therein lies my fear, that I will get it in, not be able to get it back out, and end up in the ER having to explain to some resident that I got a Diva cup stuck in my vagina.   :\">

It's difficult because you have to hook your finger under the ring. It didn't take long to get it out, but it was harder than pulling on a string. Now that I know I kinda like it, I think I'm going to move onto the Diva Cup next like @sarcaztic10
