Preemie mamas and babies - buenos diiiiiiaaaas! Tell us all! I have added the new mamas/babies from this week, and, as always, if I have forgotten someone or gotten a tag wrong, please send me a virtual boob punch so I can fix it. Without further ado:

Liam is doing better today, they have his ventilator turned way down its only giving him 10 breaths a minute and he is taking the rest on his own. The Dr said maybe tomorrow we can try taking him off of it again and move him to a RAM cannula. He also seems a lot more like himself lately he's stretching and kicking and moving around more than he was earlier this week which means he has more energy to be awake and alert instead of sleeping non stop.

I am hoping that maybe today or tomorrow they will let me hold him, It's been a full week now since I've been able to hold him.

@babybean82 fx that you'll be able to hold him soon! I know I'd go crazy if I couldn't hold Henry!!! Glad to hear he's doing better!!

Well my little chunker is now 5 lbs 0.5 oz!!!!! Hell yeah 5 lb club!!!!! He's doing awesome! We had another great breast feeding session! He latched on first try!! I also had a little increase when I pumped after!! And his physical therapists literally fight over who gets to do his PT for the day!! He already has girls fighting over him, I guess I should be worried!!

@hubbs173 - five pounds!!!! I am doing a happy dance on my couch. And BFing! I am doing another dance for that! He is a cutie patootie for sure. Love that he is doing so well!!

Hi Ladies,
Well Evangeline is doing ok. She is still on the SiPap and SLOWLY gaining weight and inches. I never realized how slow the progress would be but she is getting bigger and up a little bit on her feeding. Here a pic to put things in perspective. She weighs about 2.5lbs. (she was 1lb 8oz at birth). But progress is progress and she has come such a long way!

The tough part is that I have been sick and haven't been able to see her for a few days. It has been absolute TOURTURE. I miss my baby and I know she misses me too. I can't wait to be 100% soon. I feel so much better today but as a precaution I am still staying away. It is so hard. However, if I am feeling better tomorrow and she is doing good then we will get to bring her Big Brothers in to meet her for the FIRST TIME! We have been looking forward to this for so long.

It is so reassuring to see how your babies are achieving milestones daily. It helps me feel better about my bean possibly coming too soon and needing the NICU care team.

@xnbride - she is gorgeous! I remember DS took fooooooorever to gain weight and it could get so frustrating. Hang in there. I'm sorry you're sick! You're a good mama for staying home even though I know it's so difficult. FX you feel better really soon, like right now. She looks cute on the SiPap

@hubbs173, glad to hear that Henry is doing so very well and that your breastfeeding sessions are going well too. Sounds like you better watch out when he is a bit older...you've got a little charmer on your hands for sure.

@hubbs173 that is great that he is breastfeeding. That is amazing. Most babies don't go home breastfeeding after having been in the NICU. That is such a big deal.

@xnbride‌ Henry seemed to gain weight slowly at first too but once he hit 3 lbs that's all he's been doing is packing on the lbs!!! Hopefully your LO will start gaining more soon!! She is absolutely beautiful!! Feel better soon and make sure to get plenty of rest!!!!

Max has had a pretty good day today. Still rocking at nursing. We also gave him a bath today which was exciting. He didn't seem to mind too much. Unfortunately he had an apnea episode close to when we arrived this morning, but hasn't since. We need him to be 48 hours episode free in order to take him home. He will continue to be on a monitor at home. We had that training today. It will definitely give me some peace of mind when it is time to go home! I will come back later when I am not mobile with some pics

@xnbride, Evangeline is precious and it sound like she is making steady progress. I hope that you are feeling much better today and are able to visit her with the boys...I know that they must be so excited to meet their baby sister!

Well, we had a great day yesterday! We got moved out of the big surgery room and into our own room! Then he got both chest tubes removed, X-ray looked great.

To top it all off, I got to hold my little buddy for the first time! 18 days in, and finally! It was such an ordeal. It took 3 nursed to bring him to me and set him down in my arms.

He's been digesting the breast milk well, with no signs of issue. The only thing that is concerning right now is his urine output has decreased again. So hopefully that will pick up!

All of your babies sound like they're doing great! It makes my heart happy.

I couldn't wait till next week! We walked into Kolt's room this afternoon and it was eerily quiet. He is off the vent and on 50% O2 with a nasal cannula! We didn't even know that was a possibility so soon. Hopefully he does well and they don't have to hook him back up. So excited!

It'll take me a little while to get used to the quiet.

Jumped the gun. He still needs some help. He's on a cpap now. It provides positive pressure and oxygen to keep his air sacks open. He is still breathing all on his own. His lungs just are not ready.

Max has officially gained half a pound but still has high bili levels so he is back under the lights

Apparently me being O- increases his chance of jaundice as well as him being a preemie. I am hoping he will come off the lights tomorrow and that they get him out of the isolet into a crib. I know every day is closer to him coming home but I am getting a little stir crazy! Props to you ladies who have been in the NICU longer!

Anyone know of any good resources to read for raising a preemie? I'll ask the nurses, too, but figured I'd check with you ladies as well

those lights are like a baby rave. All the cool kids party under them. Have you checked out the preemie blog on the preemie board? I can't remember if any books are listed but it has some good info! Also check out Graham's Foundation.

Hello! The girls are doing really, really well. Miss Viviana is still working on nippling all her feeds. She only does about 30% of the time. She is going to be in an open crib within the next couple of days. She is currently 4 lbs. so we are making progress. Miss Francesca is now in an open crib and is taking the majority of her feedings. She just has to do it for 24 hours straight to get out of this joint!! She is now 4 lbs 10 oz. Both girls have surpassed their birth weights which is great. I have been here everyday to bring milk and see and cuddle them while the big kids are at school. I also have been staying here 2 nights a week. Last Friday I was dx'd with a uterine infection so I was admitted for 24 hours of IV antibiotics so I spent my bday here in the hospital down the hall from the NICU. Which was nice to not have to make the 45 min drive from our house to here.
