Baby girl diet

Have you all heard about the diet to have a baby girl? It's been advertised a lot on the NY/NJ area on the radio. I always thought it was harder to have a boy? I can't say anything as I have B/G twins, but I'm curious what you think?

  • I don't buy it. But what do I know?
Plus, I don't really get wanting to choose the gender.

  • i'm sure it can help sway it one way or another, but obviously it's not foolproof. i think the timing thing that it mentions is probably an easier way to try to sway for one sex or the other. supposedly the Y-carrying "male" sperm swim faster but burn out quickly, while the X-carrying "female" sperm swim more slowly but have more stamina. so if you want a boy, you try to time intercourse so it coincides as much as possible with ovulation, while for a girl, you try to do it before you ovulate. but! as a caveat to this, there was another study that said that men can have either overwhelmingly male sperm, overwhelmingly female sperm, or an even mix. so even if you do time it for a girl, if you have a partner who's only shootin' boys, you're going to get a boy regardless! ;)

This!  I'm just trying to get pregnat, regardless of it's a boy or a girl.

However I do think that diet can play a role in your overall fertility.  But I don't think your diet can affect the sex of the child.  I think it's important to have a balanced diet and to not cut thigs out (becasue you are trying for a particular sex).

I also have read what @vvvvvfee mentions about timing (I think I read that in "Taking Charge of your Fertility".  But the author does mention its not an exact science.

At 20-week anatomy scan found IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction), and very low Amniotic Fluid.  Now, I'm High Risk and have weekly ultrasounds to monitor fluid and growth.  If baby runs out of room or is too growth restricted, they will deliver ASAP.  My current goal is to make it to 28 weeks!
