My Mom is Really Testing Me!!

Hi Ladies,

My husband took our 15 month to his Gymboree class last Thursday and unfortunately he bit another little boy in the face...needless to say I felt horrible! I wish I had been there to express my sincerest apologies.

So...my mom watches him on Wed & Thurs and after finding out what happened she's refuses to take my son to his Gymboree class that we pay for!!! Ummm...what? She says she doesn't feel comfortable and she's too embarrassed to take him. Come on mom!!! He's a baby, things like this are going to happen as he grows and learns. So I'm pissed because I'm asking her to do something regarding my son and she's refusing to do so. I'm considering either switching her days and having my MIL take over her Thursdays since she doesn't feel comfortable...is this extreme? I completely understand where she's coming from but she's being selfish. These classes are for his and his development!! He loves his little friends in his class.

Help!!!

  • Yeah she is being immature, i can't wrap my mind around denying a kid something that is good for their development because it's not convenient for you. I would do whatever you feel is necessary to make sure the LO is getting what he needs, if that means switching her days then so be it.

And you know what? He will probably do something like that again, because he is a baby and still learning.
Our little Samosa arrives in January!
  • No we do not pay our mother...she refuses to take money from us however we do buy her lunch, pay her bills, etc.

I totally understand that she's doing us a huge favor however this is part of is weekly ritual. We pay for these classes, not to mention my mom is the one who encouraged us to take him out to be around other kids. He's been attending Gymboree with our moms for the past 7 months.

Those classes are exactly how he WILL learn how to socialize with other kids.  And biting happens.  Jack hasn't bitten any other kids yet, but he has already gotten me twice.  Its unfortunate but its just another way of expressing themselves right now.
I don't think you are being ridiculous in changing either her day watching him (good for you that you have the option) or changing his day at gymboree.
Jack has learned so much from Little Gym and he loves it.  I'd be looking for a solution as well.
    Thanks for the reply!!!

**My son has those same PJ's...so sweet!
