Delivered while waiting for my epi...@babybsmommy Birth Story...

Short: Brooke Eva was born 4/23 at 8:59 am, 7lbs14oz 21 inches via cytotec induction at 40w1d.

Long: We went in in 4/22 at 8 pm. Started cytotec at 9pm. I really thought things would go faster because with my first, I started contractions within the hour cytotec was inserted and had DS 7 hours later. I was at a 1 at this point. Didn't start contractions until second dose at 1am. Contractions were manageable until third dose. I told the nurse that I wanted my epi before pitocin was started at 9am. Third dose at 5am.

At 6am the nurse checked me and I was only at a 2. I was miserable! Shift change at 7 am and I was checked and at a three. Doctor said I had to wait an hour before epi. That hour between 7-8am was the longest! I had DH go out before 8 to get the epi process started. He told them I went fast last time and she reassured me we had time...

I was checked at 8am and was a 6. Things get a little blurry from here. I started being very vocal during contractions and assume it was transition. The anestisiologist took forever and finally got there at 8:30? He took a look at me and said I needed to be checked... I was complete. I begged him for anything to help but was too far. I hopped on the bed and they called the dr. My body started pushing by itself and they asked me to stop and I couldn't. Dr got there just in time. One contraction later and our little girl was here! She scored both 10s on the apgars. Dr said there was just a small hole where my water had broke and he had tried to open it more but couldn't before she was born. DH said she still had the sac around her when she came out! She is beautiful with a head full of hair! Although I went in thinking I'd have another epi, I love the birth story. It was amazing being able to feel her being pushed out and I wouldn't change it for the world!

  • Wow! Congratulations! She is adorable! I gave birth to my son yesterday (induction cervidil + pit). I received the epi at 9h25 am and he's born 30 minutes later. I can relate to your story. Even with the epi I ended up feeling everything!
  • It's considered very good luck to be born in the caul!
  • Congrats! She is beautiful!
