Trunk Issues...

This is more for STM'S, but I have a 2012 Ford Focus. Let's just say that the trunk opening is really small. I mean, tiny. So we're looking at Travel Systems and I'm concerned that none of these strollers will fit in my teeny tiny trunk. Any STM's out there drive a newer model Focus and can fit theirs in the trunk? Or any recommendations on a more compact travel system that will fit in the Focus trunk? Thanks ladies! ;;)

I'd suggest going to babies r us and trying them out.  BRU will let you take strollers and carseats out to the car so that you can make sure they fit.

Only issue there is the nearest one is 3 hours away. :-<

  • I'm looking at the Chico LiteWay Plus with Chico KeyFit carseat. Supposed to be smaller than a regular travel system. Haven't checked them out in person yet, though.

  • The B-Agile is pretty small folded and I have a friend who easily puts it in her tiny car... but I can't speak to your make and model exactly.

  • We had an older focus during the infant months. The snap-n-go stroller that went with our Graco seat fit fine in our trunk. Then we got a Chicco Liteway once DD could sit up, and that folds up pretty small (think large umbrella stroller).

  • @live4thegiraffe‌ what Graco travel system was that? Is it called the Snap and Go? Thank you!

  • I also have a 2012 Ford Focus (hatchback, though).  We just got a Chicco Keyfit Caddy for the infant carrier stroller and a City Mini GT for when Schroeder is older (for longer trips and talking walks in the neighborhood).  Both fit in my car's "trunk" without hassle and have some extra room. For when I am running quick errands when she is older, we are also planning on picking up an umbrella stroller.

We had looked at the Chicco Lightway Plus (which you can use a Chicco car seat with) but DH wanted something "more sturdy" for the main stroller.

Unfortunately, mine is not the hatchback. :(

I have a britax b-agile. It's relatively lightweight and you can snap britax infant seats into them without needing a special adaptor. I don't have a small trunk though. We have an accord and a passat. Most websites will give you the weight and measurements of the strollers.

  • I don't have any specific help to offer but the snap and go strollers are great when the baby is in the infant carrier.  compact and lightweight.  Maybe try that out until you can get to a BRU or even Target?  Ask the service desk if you can test out the floor models there.

  • Like pp, I'm going with a car seat frame-type stroller (Graco to go with the Graco snugride carseat) for the first few months and then get a City Mini GT. I have a Prius, so space is fairly limited and I don't want something that will take up the entire trunk area. I would go straight to the City Mini if it weren't for the price tag and car seat options/adapters.

@MrsSinner402 Yes, it was the Snap and Go frame stroller that went with the click connect infant seats. The infant seat just snaps into it and there's a basket underneath. It wasn't great to steer, but it saved us a lot of trunk space.
