8 weeks old and licking everything!

If I hold my baby on my shoulder he licks it and does the same thing on his tummy time...to the blanket or pillow...whatever he can! He just started this in the past few days. What phase is this and how long will he be doing this?

    It feels like he is trying to nurse my shoulder. After feedings he does this when I'm burping him on my shoulder.

    Just after reading around, some women are saying this is early teething. 8 weeks seems early for that.

    I don't think it's teething. This sounds completely normal to me. My LO is 7 weeks old and does this all the time. DS did for a long time too. Babies explore the world with their mouths, it's a developmental stage, hence why infants put every single thing in their mouth. It lasts several months.

    My baby is two weeks and mouths everything - hands, arms, shoulders, necks, his play mat. I was told it's just how they explore their world.
