Spotting after appt

I am 14 weeks and have had a few small spotting episodes during my 7th, 9th and now 14th week.  Dr said he felt it was due to intercourse.  I have not had sex the last few days and started spotting this morning.  I did have a doctors appt yesterday and he took some cultures.  Could that have caused it?  We were able to hear a strong heartbeat yesterday but it still worries me.

Re: Spotting after appt

  • My doctor told me after my pap that I could have some spotting from it.  I'm guessing it's from the cultures, but I would call if it makes you feel better!

  • My doctoral told me that spotting after my pap was normal as well. So I wouldn't worry too much, especially if it's light.

  • Your cervix is so sensitive. It was probably the appointment. I wouldn't worry.

Probaby TMI but after my 12 week appointment and pap I was pretty much gushing blood. (happened literally during/right after the paptest) Only lasted the rest of the day but my OB was not concerned at all and just said that I had a lot of extra blood cells at my cervix. Being that you did have some testing/cultures done, I would say it's completely normal. Don't worry yourself!
  • I spotted for a day or so after a PAP at an appt. I think it's normal with your cervix being more sensitive!

  • It's almost absolutely from the exam.

I had spotting at 4 weeks (when I would have started my period), 7 weeks (after my exam), 8 weeks (again when I would have started my period), and 10 weeks (don't know why for that one). I'm to 16 now with no additional episodes, but I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't get a little spotting once and a while again.

My doctor said yes, the cervix is really sensitive, but I also have a tag near it that may cause bleeding. That could be the case with you, but if you're concerned, just call in. I bet they tell you exactly what we're telling you here--it's from the exam.
