Portland ladies

I think we have at least a couple Portland residents, right? Some of our best friends are moving there at the end of June and we want to get them a membership to a kid-friendly Portland attraction as a gift. Their daughter will be just over a year when they move and they'll be doing activities with a 4-year-old niece sometimes. What's better - the Oregon Zoo or Portland Children's Museum? Or something else? They'll be living a couple miles from both of those places. Thanks!

What a thoughtful gift! I haven't been to either location but I would choose the indoor attraction since the weather can be so yucky there sometimes. I have several friends in Portland and they are always looking for indoor activities for their kiddos.
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

    Mom to Lily and Colin!

I haven't been to the children's museum myself, but I've heard good things.
The zoo is always a safe bet- I've been there a trillion times and there's plenty for a toddler to do there on a day trip!
IMO- the best one is OMSI, but it might be a little advanced for the one year old, yet.

Either of your options are great, really! :) good luck!!

Portland children's museum and a gift card to Powells bookstore. It is probably the most amazing bookstore I have ever been to. The kids section is awesome!

They're both fantastic...that's a really tough choice. At just over a year, though, I'd probably say zoo. Kids are just really finding their love for animals at that age, and it'd be more interesting for the parents.

I used to live in Portland and loved going to OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science) as a kid. I don't remember though if they have a lot of exhibits geared toward really little kids, more for a little older like 6+ so the children's museum would probably be better suited to your friends kids age ranges. But that astronaut ice cream at OMSI sure was yummy!

Thanks ladies! I read great things about OMSI but was thinking the same thing about age. Seems like I can't go wrong with either the zoo or museum!
