Rexall brand test ....

My sister took a little dollar store cheapy with the purple edges and got a very faint positive this morning so I talked her into taking another test this evening she bought the rexall brand from dollar general and he got a negative ... She is bummed I told her that her pee was probably too concentrated or the rexall may have been less sensitive ? Do any of you know the sensitivity (MIU) of the rexall brand test ? Her period is due in 5 days so her hcg level can't be very high yet ... Here is a picture of her test this morning

Re: Rexall brand test ....

  • It's super faint but it's there !
  • Loading the player...
  • Definitely test again in a few days...but...I don't want to be the bearer of bad news. Looking at that test, where the "positive" line is, is not where the line should be. It should be further over to the left. It's likely a malfunctioning test (evap or something funky).

  • I would tell her that but I know she won't listen lol she is scared to death bc she has a root canal being done on Monday and they perscribed her an antibiotic and she is scared if she's prego that it could hurt the baby and they can't use certain number agents when u are prego either :( she's in awful pain from this tooth poor girl and now is worried about getting her hopes up .... I wish she's wait 2 days to test bc she surely would either get a positive or negative test by then ....
  • I sure hope she gets a positive they have been TTC for 2 years an found out she was Insulin resistant so they put her on metformin and told her she should concieve now .... My fingers are crossed for her
  • Trying in the evening is never a good idea. Especially early on. I would tell her to wait a couple of days and then try again in the morning. FX for her!!

Several antibiotics are perfectly safe during pregnancy. Penicillin is often prescribed for root canals and it's fine. They can also use novocaine. I don't think anyone would recommend getting a ton of elective dental work done, but the benefits of cleaning out the infection outweigh any slight risks. They usually do xray with root canal, they can double up the smocks for extra protection. If she IS pregnant, she's so early she's not even sharing a blood supply with the baby. She doesn't need to stress out about this.

Agree. My hubby is a dentist and lidocaine is perfectly safe while preggo. It is metabolized by the kidneys. She can also request they use carbocaine, which is broken down in the surrounding tissue. It also does not have epinephrine in it. He said she should put off non-emergency work until the second trimester, but sounds like she needs the root canal now! I wish her luck.
