Prenatal massage week 40, yay or nay?

Have a gift card and time-wondering if I should do it now or wait until after. I will call my OB but read that they are pretty safe. Thanks in advance!

I was told by a friend to skip it- a lot of places prenatal massages are just back rubs because they're afraid to hurt you. I saved my gift card for post pardum, although it's harder to find time. Maybe just before I return to work. Or after we file our Q.

  • I had one the day before I delivered and highly recommend using it now. Given how often I'm nursing and have been for the past 3 weeks I don't know when I'd be able to use it post partum. Plus it's nice to have a great massage when everything aches and you're so uncomfortable. I highly recommend making sure the place and person are good though, if not, wait to use it after. I've had some amazing prenatal massages and some just ok ones.

  • I would use it after for something else. I got one at 37 weeks with belly cutout and everything and almost puked all over the table. I got overheated and nauseous and hated it. But I had not been on my belly at any point during the pregnancy and the pressure was just too much. Hope it's better for u if u chose to get it!

Yes, but only if they have the good table that lets you lay comfortably on my belly.  I would have paid just to lay there!

I got my last massage on my due date, and my masseuse switched from prenatal to "eviction" massage - basically focusing on the points they aren't allowed to touch during prenatal.  Didn't work, but did give me some BH contractions!

  • I had a few prenatal massages and loved them, but I also had a couple I didn't like. Like pp said, make sure it's a good person doing it or you'll feel like you wasted your gift card.
  • Thanks everyone!
