Do you see your MFM and ob?

I am trying to find the right words for my apt. Tmrw morning. I don't feel comfortable with my ob and leave with questions and concerns every time. I hate it. I love my MFM and see both every two weeks. I'm even taking some kind of bakery treat in tmrw because we reached his goal of 28 weeks! I somehow need to speak up and see if I have to be co-managed because I don't want to be. Any words of wisdom or similar situations?

I see both. My MFM doesn't do deliveries... Does yours? I would ask. Also I switched OBs at 25 weeks for various reasons, I'm sure it's not too late to find another you like better?

I have been seeing the MFM due to cervical shortening. He's the one that put me on modified bed rest and crinone. He has now determined that I don't have an incompetent cervix but am at risk for preterm labor. Being off my feet has helped my cervix hold. Last time I went 2weeks ago my fundal height was measuring a week behind...he said it's something to watch. Today, I saw my ob (2 weeks later) and it's still a week behind but did grow 2 week's worth. He just said I won't have a 10 pound baby but on the ultrasound he wants he wrote SGA (small gestational age). He didn't say anything about this or any concerns:( I feel like every time in leave I have more worries instead of understanding which my MFM gives me. I also have the least restrictive blood clotting gene of the mthfr group. I see both every 2 weeks and unfortunately uncomfortable still with my ob. My MFM is one of those people in life you are just happy to meet. Smart and goes out of his way to solve what's wrong. The first week of bed rest he called to check on me! We will see what he says tomorrow.

He does do deliveries! He delivered 2 of my cousin's babies. He does surgeries as well.

  • I see both because the MFM does not deliver. Do you think you can look into another OB who also works with your MFM? If you are that comfortable with you MFM, I would ask them what practices they work with and see who they like working with. Then go from there and see if you can switch. I don't think it is too late.

  • That's good to hear! I'm glad you feel comfortable with your provider, that is so important.
