Pregnant after a Loss

Looking for Success Stories for Inspiration

Hi Ladies,

My Husband and I TTC for eighteen months. After three months on clomid (we learned I wasn't ovulating via a fertility specialist which is why we went on clomid) we were beyond thrilled at our six week, four day ultrasound to hear three strong heartbeats. I had passed a clot the day before the ultrasound, but the doctor said that since I was carrying triplets this was nothing to worry about. It was when I went back to my nine week ultra sound that we learned we had lost all three of our babies within days of hearing their heartbeats. We had their viable tissue tested. We lost three baby girls and the results showed it was due to blood clotting. My D&C was April 8th. My Fertility specialist wants us to wait for two full cycles and then go back on clomid. My Husband was happy to hear we could TTC within a few months as we were worried he would want us to wait longer since we lost triplets. I am so scared at the thought of getting pregnant again, just to have another MC. I would love to hear inspiration and success storied from anyone willing to share their stories of a miscarriage, but then going on to have a successful pregnancy! God Bless!!

I see you also intro'ed on ttcal. You were given very good advice there. A lot of us here are former ttcal'ers.

I agree with ttcal that you really need to see an actual Reproductive Endocrinologist and not just your ob and high risk fertility specialist.

Have you or your SO actually had any testing, other than testing on your babies? You're your own best advocate so please educate yourself when it comes to your fertility.

That being said, I'm sorry for your losses.

Thanks so much for the feedback!  We did get all kinds of blood work done and the results pointed us to blood clotting. I do think with the assistance of the RE I will be excited to beginning a new journey of welcoming a baby. I will definitely still be nervous and anxious, specifically for through the nine week ultrasound, but it doesn't mean I won't have faith in the team that is working with me!

I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet girls.

I have had five losses (4 in the first trimester and one in second trimester). Two of my pregnancies were confirmed for chromosomal abnormalities and others are unknown. I am now 12 weeks pregnant, so far from a success just yet but hopeful. We conceived this baby on Clomid with a trigger shot and timed intercourse. Like you I sought out success stories because honestly I was starting to feel hopeless. However, there are many ladies here and on PAL who have had similar journeys and have their rainbows or are about to have them.

I know some ladies on here are on Lovenox for blood clotting. I have MTHFR and I take baby aspirin and extra folate. I will be on the baby aspirin until 38 weeks because my MTHFR makes me more prone to clotting. Did your doctor say what she would recommend for your treatment going forward?

Being TTCAL and PGAL is really hard and takes courage to pick yourself up again. However, remember that every pregnancy is different and just because your pregnancy had a very sad ending doesn't mean that your next pregnancy will. I think the fact that they found a reason for your loss is promising too as many including myself don't get many answers. I am thinking of you.

I'm so sorry for your losses.  The reason for my losses was different, but I had an early loss (4 weeks, reason unknown) and a loss at 22 weeks due to an incompetent cervix, and my sweet rainbow will be 6 weeks old tomorrow.  It is definitely possible to have a happy ending.  Good luck to you!

My Husband and I will meet with our Specialist before I go back on clomid to talk about our plan of action. I have to have two menstrauls before going back on clomid and will make the appointment once my first cycle arrives. He mentioned baby aspirin as a potential but pending the results of additional testing he wants to do he also mentioned (I believe it's called) heperan.
