This kind of makes me sad. I've been out of high school for 18 years. My twenty year reunion will be in two years WTF. All I can say is Sisqo's The Thong song was the ish...
They were born when I was a senior in high school. And I can't even believe we'd waste whole days waiting for "that song" to come on so we could record it:
54. They’ve never experienced the frustration of trying to record your favorite songs from the radio to a tape, only to have the DJ start talking and ruin everything.
I'm only 30 now, but several years ago when I was still teaching, I would have similar moments in class with my 9th grade students. I'd make some sort of joke or reference, only to have them blankly stare back.
They've already graduated, but some of these still apply to them.
1) I am going to force my kids to learn how to read a paper map. I'm gonna spread out the state of Indiana and make them route me to a small town chosen at random. I will buy them a US atlas when they're 16 and make them keep it in the trunk of their car along with their jumper cables and first aid kit. Knowing how to read a map is critical if you're lost and have no reception. Not long ago I got lost in a remote area in Illinois and the only way I could navigate my way to civilization was through the help of my big ol' atlas in the trunk!
2) I am very glad our kids will never know the agony of sharing an internet line or worry about whether or not a connection will be made. I danced with joy when the old fashioned modem finally croaked in favor of high speed internet!
3) C and I's kids will know classic 90's music because that's all they're probably going to hear the first 5 years of their lives. C is obsessed with boy bands. Her obsession began when she was a wee child and she STILL wants to see Back Street Boys in concert at 31.
Although I already knew some of these. DH teaches 7th grade and his students were born in like 2002-2003. He has to explain 9/11 to them every year and they have absolutely no connection to it or empathy really. It's bizarre.
The Class of 2018 is my current group of students. #1 is incorrect - they were born in 1999 or 2000 not 2000/2001. I plan on taking a small poll today because I feel like many of these are wrong. I think they'll know more of the pop-culture references than this states.
As for feeling old...I started teaching before they were born. My 20th reunion is this year. I'm going to have a student next year that is the offspring of two former students.

I hate buzzfeed. They've done this same exact list for the past like 3 years and just keep changing the date of the graduating class. Get some new material buzzfeed!!

Yeah, these lists tend to be BS. I read a list of things kids born in 1982 would "never understand" and I understood most of them. There were a few I didn't get but I'd say at least 85% of the pop culture references were still relevant to me.
My 15 year HS reunion is in t-minus one year. Thinking about that kinda makes me wanna freak out and have a mid-life crisis. 15 years post-high school means *almost* HALF MY ENTIRE LIFE AGO I graduated. Holy shit I'm getting old.
I still print directions out, or ::gasp:: look them up and write them down. I'm not able to fully trust GPS.
While I wouldn't say H and I are total luddites, we're just not that into technology or spending money on tons of electronics (we have one tv, one laptop, no smartphones although H may get one tomorrow, one Xbox, no iPods, and we still listen to the radio in the car-NPR). I am worried that we'll have to get with the program when we have kids so they don't get left behind. But we're also from families that didn't get computers or cell phones until much later.
Class of 2002, baby!

Me too, now that you mention it. Yay, class of '96! I read through the list. Extra old points for me for being too old for some of the things they referred to. I work at a college and I swear they get younger every year.
ETA: I still have a flip phone. Yeah, it is a bit sad.
